NEW YORK -- Hillary Clinton has upended her campaign schedule, adding more stops in California, in an effort to prevent an embarrassing loss there to Bernie Sanders, her rival for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Clinton originally planned to campaign for two days this week in New Jersey, but at the last minute canceled an event on Thursday and will instead return to California for a five-day swing.
The schedule change comes as Sanders has barnstormed California, not leaving the state in more than a week. Meanwhile, a recent poll found the race closing significantly. Clinton's lead over Sanders had narrowed to just two points.
Details are scarce, but Clinton now plans to hold events in California from Thursday until the day before the state's June 7 primary.

(4,008 posts)She stayed most of the time on NY as well and pundits had him "closing"the gap.
I'm sure there will be a few more polls out this week.
For him to camp out for two full weeks tells you how far behind he really is at this point.
Think she's going to jersey Tuesday and Wednesday as well. Going into the home stretch!

Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton greets supporters as she makes a campaign appearance at Parkside Hall in San Jose, Calif., Thursday, May 26, 2016.
San Jose: Hillary Clinton bashes 'loose cannon' Trump
SAN JOSE -- Facing a tightening primary battle in California and renewed criticism over her tenure as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton received a hero's welcome Thursday from more than 1,000 supporters in downtown San Jose eager to help the likely Democratic nominee get her campaign back on track.
Clinton devoted much of her 25-minute address in Parkside Hall to blasting "loose cannon" Donald Trump, who clinched the Republican nomination Thursday, as a menace to the world and working-class Americans alike.
"People say you talk about Trump a lot ... and I'll tell you why," Clinton said. "Because what he is saying is dangerous and divisive; what he is saying is harmful to our future and our country."
Clinton took a much different tack with Bernie Sanders, whom she described as a kindred spirit who would help her defeat Trump after they battle it out in the days leading up to California's June 7 primary.
"We are on the same page," she said, noting her support of universal health coverage, making college affordable and reining in Wall Street. "We are going to be coming together as a unified Democratic Party ... because Sen. Sanders and I -- our supporters together-- have so much more in common than we do with Donald Trump."

That's one reason why she's going to get to be the President and not him.

(15,512 posts)in Oakland. I heard maybe 5 minutes of his speech and it was "how many of you pay outrageous premiums?" and "pharmaceutical companies are writing policy and ripping you off"! (paraphrasing). When I heard him here it was the same thing -- bash, bash bash Democrats, Democratic programs, the DNC and the party, sometimes by name, usually indirectly. And he's been ginning up resentment in his "yuuuge" crowds (usually about 1/50th of reported) for a year. Putting him in the mix was a really bad idea.
p.s. but yes she's going to win and it won't be long , whew!

Thankfully there are more wise people than those who get suckered.

(15,512 posts)"there are more wise people than those who get suckered. " That's a comfort! Barack, Bill and Hill have three months to turn this thing around after the convention which I'm hoping will run smoothly. But I'm not counting on Bernie helping a whole lot. He's running around California knocking Hillary for all he's worth for motives I can only ascribe to revenge. Nice guy eh.

(111 posts)Nate Silver said when she declared if Obama's approval rating is near or above 50% it helps Hillary in primaries and general for two reasons, 1)voters like the course the country is going on and 2) It helps her bridge that gap with independents and white male vote.

I can't believe I had a favorable view of this ass when this process started.

(15,512 posts)It all sounds thrilling the first time you hear him rattle off his grievances but over the years it really starts to get annoying. He's been a super-vocal "critic" of Obama on everything and called everything a failure, like the stimulus, auto bailouts and TARP, which were actually very successful. Now he's harping on the TPP which will also be hugely beneficial if it ever gets off the ground. Anyway his 15 minutes are just about up and the sooner he goes away the better.
