(1,138 posts)...this is the kind of thing that really ticks me off! Why the hell are we talking about Hillary's "style"?
I just find this completely sexist! do we read about what Bernie wore to the beach? Or O'Malley's urban chic?
Holy crap!
and, you folks are pro Hillary! Doesn't is seem demeaning to you?
If my boss pointed out all my great outfits over the years instead of talking about how I am kick ass employee, I would be horrified.
Just sayin'

(38,402 posts)My lifelong interest in it has led to a daughter's interest and her career. And, sorry, some just find it fun, as I do. And I see the best design as an art form.
If all of my posts about Hillary were about style, that might be sexist. You will notice this is the first, and maybe, or maybe not, the only one. All of my thousands of other DU posts have been political.
We here in the Hillary Group are all about how Hillary can kick ass. I don't think she minds at all a complimentary post about her Oscar de la Rentas.

(55,147 posts)All work & no play makes Jill a dull girl.
In the Hillary Group we like to let our hair down & have some fun. Is there anything wrong with that?
And to drive the point further being a Gay man with a fashion sense for women and men, I thought this was absolutely fabulous!
Let's leave it at that.

(81,267 posts)And I'm as staunch a feminist as you're apt to find.
I think she's a role model not JUST because of all her professional bona fides or her experience statewide, nationally, or internationally. She also is a role model for those of us women in the professional world, working women, working mothers, as to good ideas for how to dress. I sure can't afford what Amal Clooney or Jennifer Aniston or the rest of 'em can splurge on. When I was still working, I lived in pantsuits - and they can be both sexy and practical as all-get-out.
There's always gonna be more fuss about what a prominent woman looks like, wears, does her hair, etc. It's a freakin' INDUSTRY now. I was still working when the lines of questioning along the red carpet (and yep, I was out there on that beat and asking those questions) - "who are you wearing?"
I also think it both feminizes her to those who believe she's some kind of cold, robotic ice-queen, and humanizes her especially when she makes jokes about her hair. Her hair??? How many mornings I dealt with my hair, that's always had a mind of its own, and I'd have to spend 45 minutes battling in the bathroom every morning with the blow-dryer, trying to force my hair to behave! I wore headbands back in the day because that seemed to tame my hair at least a little. I never understood the fuss about her headbands back when she was Governor Clinton's wife. Seems to me it all makes her a lot more real and down-to-earth and warm and approachable. I don't think this little bit of frippery downgrades her at all. How could that happen, when she has more credibility, gravitas, and she's a serious political player and heavyweight.
And it's Harpers Bazaar, forcryingoutloud, not The Nation or Forbes or Time magazine!
My favorite Hillary fashion story actually came from Vogue magazine (to which I subscribed, since I was 19, until a year or so ago when they put fucking Kim Kardashian on the cover and totally repulsed me). It was a spread about her while she was Secretary of State, and there was one photo in particular that caught my eye, because of the caption. She was asked about the pink satchel she was photographed carrying across some tarmac while walking with a couple of dignitaries, and her response was - "how can you be unhappy when you pick up a big pink bag?" Preach it, girlfriend! I LOVED that! What a great quote! And I actually went out the next day and bought a big pink bag for myself. I'm still using it!

(38,402 posts)who would have tears almost well in my eyes from that pink bag story, but they did. LOL
