not accepting defeat?....Warren knows what's at stake...I'm thinking in the coming days...Lets see how sanders follwers reacts then...does she get threats and harassment too..Even death threats?

(2,542 posts)...more than anything else. Top level fence-sitting, no doubt.
And then acts like she should be VP as though she's the only alternate to Bernie. Nope.

(1,999 posts)I honestly think Elizabeth Warren is exactly where she wants to be right now as a US Senator.

(25,472 posts)The ship is sinking just fine without her piling on.
She knows that it's more important to show a united front once we have a nominee. Plus, she's already in GE mode, attacking Trump.

(41,987 posts)A good, solid baiting of Trump and enough patience to stay out of the main line of fire for now will be a real help in the long run.

(90,714 posts)I want her in the Senate where she can gain power and influence far beyond that of a VP and not be limited to two terms.
When she does speak out, though, I fully expect the Bernie cult to act with unreasoning rage....

(9,263 posts)Behind sanders....once warren speaks out...the fallout would be huge and we could see unification except for the fringe left that NEVER helps democrats...it need to be done before June 7th

(32,623 posts)Love the suggestion upthread, though, of Sen Warren nominating Hillary.
The president would be good, too. I wonder if that's ever done?

(217 posts)She should keep her focus on Trump.
I think it's smart for her to stay out of everything else. When the primaries officially conclude she'll be a strong piece of the unity effort IMO.

(32,623 posts)Sort of at odds with some Sanders supporters inclinations. They should pay attention to how Sen Warren is doing this!

(47,165 posts)I suggest that if you didn't see Rachel's show the other night on the subject of Democratic divisiveness in May, you might want to check it out. Go here http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show and find the video called "Intra-party acrimony common to primaries"
Here this may work

Then they will be screaming police brutality.

(47,165 posts)The times are not nearly as volatile as 1968. The heated rhetoric from Bernie will be gone. The left that followed Bernie has smart people in it, they are not going to screw the pooch.

(6,129 posts)Agreed. The ant-war movement was a HUGE factor in 68.

(25,472 posts)Especially if Sanders drops out before then. If he drops out on June 8th, most of the rest of the hangers-on will lose interest before the convention.

We had plenty of protests at 2008 convention.
The DPD were sent enough military equipment to invade a small country.

(27,815 posts)I have a feeling this is going to be one big, fat bust of an idea.
The smart Bernie supporters realize it isn't going to change a damned thing, so they won't waste their time.
I would imagine they'll draw people who live within driving or public transportation distance, because there won't be any hotel rooms available and they can just go home at night.
It reminds me of Occupy's "first annual gathering" in Philly a few years back on the 4th of July. They claimed that tens of thousands would show up from all over the country. They wound up with less than 300 people, who started complaining the minute they arrived about the lack of toilets, bathing facilities, and water amid the scorching summer heat.
The point is that whether three people show up or 30,000, there is nothing to be accomplished. HRC will be declared the nominee, no matter how many people on the street scream "We want Bernie!"
TwilightZone
(25,472 posts)it'll more than likely lose any steam it manages to generate between now and then.
"The point is that whether three people show up or 30,000, there is nothing to be accomplished."
Exactly.

(1,630 posts)If I were Hillary, I would advise Elizabeth to do exactly what she is doing. I would look at her as a voice of reason for the Bernie supporters. Right now, they are in the death throes of their losing campaign and grieving. There are also a few contests left for his supporters to cast their votes even though it will not affect the outcome. The most effective use of E.W. is to be a calming force and act as a segue for BS's supporters in the aftermath of the primary. Although it might be "logical" for her to endorse Hillary now or even chastise the more rabid Berners, it is an emotionally charged situation. For that reason, it is more sensible for her to hold back and maintain what to them feels like their "trust" in the party through her continued neutrality.
