Hillary Clinton

Good conversations:
1st with Nina Turner & Joan Walsh about winning over Bernie supporters. Pretty civil until Nina kept harping on the independents and how unfair their vote is treated in primaries... Joan looked annoyed and ended with the defense that these candidates are running on the Dem ticket and the Dem base is more important than the independents...
2nd: talk of the woman card: bigger panel and Nina spouting about how black woman weren't part of the women's movement originally... Joy set her straight that Hillary has the black women's vote locked... Nina said well let's see what they get... She can get rather snarky. And of course she says this isn't over yet...right...

(32,611 posts)not be on Joy's show without a Clinton staff member present.
I have come to hate Nina because she lies so effortlessly. I used to respect her but no longer and her 15 minutes are up.
I know she needs a job so I guess we can expect to see her on Trump's payroll soon.

Did Joy called her out?. I love Joy so was looking forward to her program today but could not believe she let her come on.

(297,708 posts)she is a perfect BS surrogate.
Thank you, Satch.. Oh, and if the Independents mean so much to sanders why did he run on a Dem ticket?

(51,726 posts)Looks like Mr. Pure did it for money (e.g., the valuable credibility as a Dem candidate with the accompanying media exposure and party structure).
Cha
(297,708 posts)of course.. that's how he rolls. His staffers downloaded Hillary supporter Data and he fired 4 of them and apologized to Hillary on National TV.. but he sues the DNC.
He's been nothing but a big mess

(11,617 posts)She uses reason and displays very little attitude (like too many of media journalist personalities show way to much of). I find her pleasant to listen to.

(6,551 posts)At this point, she's the best interviewer on MSNBC. Instead of asking her prepared list of questions, she actually listens to the response and follows with a question based on that response. She's a fast thinker and very intelligent.

(25,111 posts)Even tho Black women could not be seen, they helped their white counterparts in the suffrage movement and not as slaves either. A lot of Black history has been swept under the rug. Stories of same has been passed down through generations.

(1,353 posts)Asking who won the week by Joy and she said Trump because he totally exposed how incompetent his opponents are and talked of Cruz naming Fiorina and her singing...perhaps auditioning for the Cruz nanny? Hahahaha...
I love Joan...and love Joy, the last guy asked about who won the week, said MSNBC for having Joy have a show on Sat & Sun...well said!!

(1,353 posts)I'm a transplanted NY'er recently to CO but a wonderful state to live in and will hopefully help keep it blue this Nov!
Although there will be a ballot issue this Nov voting for universal healthcare for CO. Will vote against it but it's a test for what Bernie wants so it will be telling. Articles already out there about the tax increases and how it's not a good thing. 100k stupid signatures got it on the ballot and most were dumb GOP's thinking this is how to get rid of Obama Care...now reality will sink in on how this won't work well and now they're having to defend Obama care..so funny...
I have not been paying attention to the healthcare issue. I did sign a petition however.
My state senator who I have great respect for is really pushing for this - he's a Sanders supporter.
I need to read up on it - thanks for the info.
I love CO too... I'm a native - the only other place I'd rather live is Japan.
Satch59
(1,353 posts)In the dumb 100k signatures... No disrespect meant...it is more the people who thought this was the tkt out of Obama care. NY Times had an article yesterday about it which I posted in this group. Worth reading for any CO voters.

(1,048 posts)She needs to stop making it seem as though Bernie has more Black support than he does. Black voters, PARTICULARLY Black women have been key to Hillary winning this nomination. I respect what she does and fights for and she is very passionate but I usually have to turn the volume down when she speaks cuz she is loud ALL THE TIME!!!

(24,396 posts)her switching to Sanders.
Seen in retrospect, I'm happy she made the move. She's an awful surrogate. No need for someone like her to be working for Hillary. It wouldn't have helped.

(6,979 posts)I disagree with some of what Nina said during that interview she conducted with Joy, I still respect her working hard and admire her journey to get to where she is currently in her life, and I even respect and understand--via her explanation--of why she switched from being a Hillary Clinton surrogate/supporter to being a Bernie Sanders surrogate/supporter, but like you I agree that her not being a surrogate for Hillary Clinton is all that bad. I recall when she was a surrogate/supporter of Hillary's dating back to around 2008, and I can recall some of the--how shall I say--overly enthusiastic interviews she gave on Chris Matthews show which made me cringe a bit lolz (Their interviews certainly made Matthews cringe facially on camera, not that I'm that fond of him to be honest lolz), yet there she sat, on Matthew's show several times during the 2008 campaign.
Anyway, good luck to Nina on her future endeavors in Ohio whatever they may be post the Democratic primary wrap-up.

(67,782 posts)....of the women's movement. Bullshit, she's stupid. If I was there I might have named-dropped someone named "Rosa Parks"! Does she forget her and a number of other women who were involved way back in the 1950s? Coretta Scott King, Merlie Evers, etc.?

(32,611 posts)The whole "black women not part of the movement bullshit" comes from 3rd wave academic morons. Instead of setting a forward agenda in the 80s they just took to critiquing their fore-mothers to get published.
Imagine if the 2nd wave had spent all their energy bashing the suffragists and abolitionists.
It is a disgrace.

(9,494 posts)Sanders goes back to the Senate and he sure doesn't seem to have ever cared about POC before so I can't imagine what he will need her for in the future. She holds no office so (like Bernie until he temporarily scammed his way into our party) she has no platform to launch a "revolution. She will, however, appear on lots of cable news shows trying to rip the Democratic party to shreds between adult diaper commercials.

(51,726 posts)She does not know her history. Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman, and so many other brave African American women were right there at the beginning, during the "First Wave" of the women's movement that led to women's suffrage. And black women were certainly part of the modern women's movement -- from the beginning. Nina is an idiot and just insulted the amazing African American feminists that made Nina Turner's career possible.
Hey Nina, tell Flo Kennedy she was not involved originally:
And Nina, listen to Sojourner Truth's powerful feminist speech, delivered at the Women's Convention in 1851 in Akron, Ohio:

(2,577 posts)She HAD a very important role in the Ohio Democratic Party, but gave that up to campaign for Bernie. It bothers me that she is on MSNBC trashing Democrats. The Dems in Ohio are working very hard to rebuild after the absolute disaster of 2014 when they ran an unvetted lightweight for governor who managed to crash the entire statewide ticket. She WAS part of that rebuilding process, and ODP apparently made a conscious decision to remain neutral in the primaries. Not so Nina. I found an old article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer on her switch:
http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2015/11/why_nina_turners_shift_from_hi.html
I am not happy that she is undermining Dems to support Bernie. That's not how it works.

(2,897 posts)I could picture a bunch of progressives trying to draft Nina to be the democratic nominee because she helped Daddy out. Idk if the Dems in Ohio would go for that.

(49,410 posts)she exposed her ruthless ambition. Opting to be a big fish in Bernie's small pond was the beginning of her undoing. I doubt a tainted Nina will be welcomed back into the party with open arms, and she damn sure can't be counted on to work for Hillary in the GE.
Tarheel_Dem
(31,241 posts)2014 was a very bad year for Democrats nationwide, but I don't see Nina being fully embraced in a senatorial primary by Hillary Democrats, in a state that Hillary already won. She can come off as quite angry, and is seen as very polarizing.
