(11,649 posts)After last night's election results, Bernie Sanders asked supporters to remember three important points about the state of the race right now:
"1. Young people the future of our country continue to vote for our campaign in overwhelming numbers. It's remarkable, and honestly quite humbling.
2. When we compete in open primaries that encourage the participation of independents, new voters, and young people, we do very well.
3. What remains in front of us is a very narrow path to the nomination. In the weeks to come we will be competing in a series of states that are very favorable to us including California. Just like after March 15 when we won 8 of the next 9 contests we are building tremendous momentum going into the convention.
That is the reality of where we are right now, and why we are going to fight for every delegate and every vote. It is why I am going to continue to speak to voters in every state about the very important issues facing our country. Our country cannot afford to stop fighting for a $15 minimum wage, to overturn Citizens United, or to get universal health care for every man, woman, and child in America."
No matter what happens next, this much is clear from Bernie's three points: We are proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that this campaign isn't just a message or a moment -- it's a movement.
The millions of people who are raising millions of dollars, making millions of phone calls, and knocking on millions of doors for Bernie are transforming the 2016 race in ways no one ever would have predicted just a few months ago. And every vote and every delegate we win is a bold statement in support of Bernie's progressive values and the political revolution that we've built together.
Can you chip in $3 or more right now to Bernie Sanders and DFA to show the world that you are standing with Bernie and building a political revolution that will fight for every vote in all 50 states?
There are plenty of establishment talking heads out there who want this race to be over. But the most important question right now has nothing to do with whether or not Bernie Sanders and our movement will fight to keep winning delegates in the remaining states.
In the weeks and months to come, the Democratic establishment will face a critical choice. Will they bring our party together by embracing our fight for a political revolution? Or will they tell us to sit down, shut up and fall in line -- likely costing Democrats nationwide the critical votes we'll need in the general election?
Let's take this moment to send the establishment a clear, unambiguous message: Our fight for change is just getting started.
We're going to make sure that the voices of progressive voters are heard in all 50 states. We're going to help Bernie win as many pledged delegates as possible, from coast to coast. And we're going to keep challenging the Democratic Party to live up to its values, because Americans deserve a government that prioritizes working families, not corporate interests.
There's another big FEC deadline coming up in just a few days. This is our chance to prove that what we've built behind Bernie isn't an election year fad. Will you pitch in $3 or more right now to Bernie Sanders and DFA to show the naysayers that our movement is strong -- and we're going to fight for every last vote?
Thanks for being a part of this incredible political revolution. If we keep standing together, we're going to change the world.
