Jonathan Capehart observation on MSNBC a few minutes ago:

"Bernie Sanders is the Howard Dean of 2016", and then went on to say that he's getting big turnouts at his rallies but "when the rubber meets the road, will they turn out to vote for him?" He said they didn't vote for Dean in 2004 (I wish they HAD!)

That's pretty much what I've been saying for weeks, along different lines. Sanders is getting big crowds at his rallies because he's a political novelty and today's "buzz"-candidate. But when it comes down to going into that voting booth in the primary, will they cast their votes for Sanders or a candidate that they feel has a good chance of winning the General Election.

When it comes down to election day people will get serious and vote for Hillary.

She has the better chance.

He came out about the "hands up, don't shoot" mime in Ferguson, agreeing with the killer, claiming it never happened/

And now this.

Is he the designated "hitman" shunted out by his employer to put a stop to upstart movements as well as upstart candidates?

And this is more voters for Pres candidate Hillary in the end.
With the voter suppression & vote flipping machines set in place by the RW, the only way to make these tactis moot, is to have a massive show of Dem voters so the rigged system cannot sustain the obvious.
Another way to defeat the criminal GOP.

Bush's have done this rigging before & will certainly do it again.
It takes massive Dem votes to upend their rigged system.

someone called BS a racist, with absolutely no backup. Does anyone here actually think that BS is a racist? No. But running as a "Democrat", does BS have a race problem? Absolutely.

While he's trying to attract that "disaffected" or "disillusioned" white male voter who voted for Reagan/Bush, he's alienating POC even further. That's a strategy that deserves to fail. I don't want them in the Democratic Party. We won two elections without them. They didn't give a crap about income inequality until it spread from my community to theirs. Screw them!

He's saying most oif what all of us have bee saying for a very long time. He has a lot of people listening to him because, for the firt time in a very long time, people have a reason to vote FOR someone, not just the best of two bad, or mediocre at best.

I like Hillary and do believe she's the first qualified woman to run for President, but I have to admit, I prefer the policies Bernie is talking about. I believe HE would be like a second FDR! And OH, HOW MUCH AMERICA NEEDS THAT!!!

One very important thing we all must remember though: No matter who wins the Democratic Primary campaign, they will never be able to fulfill their promises unless they have a Dem majority to work with them!

I happen to think Hillary is the better and more viable candidate just in a practical sense, and we certainly agree that she's the first qualified woman to run for President.

And yeah, I remember the Howard Dean campaign. I was a dedicated Deanie. FIERCELY dedicated. Went with Kerry after Dean (sadly) flamed out. And I supported Kerry to the very end - voting for him, as well. I find myself wondering if the leftover resentment and divisions that may have created just left our side basically handicapped when push came to shove. Cuz we wound up with another four years of bush/cheney.

MY hope this time is that we don't have another Hubert-Humphrey-vs-Gene-McCarthy scene playing out again. That was bitter and divisive among Dems. LOTS of diehards digging in their heels and getting hostile. And it led us all, kicking and screaming, to President Richard Nixon.

I was a Kerry guy, but if Dean had come for a rally at the same time as Kerry, I would have gone to see Dean, but still voted for Kerry. Dean got a raw deal with that so-called 'scream.' I thought it was great!

I like Bernie, but I like Hillary more. I'm not scared of Bernie because I believe Hillary wins the nomination. Bernie is generating excitement, rightfully so, but Hillary is steady as she goes.

If Bernie wins the nomination, I then take the Hillary sticker off my car and put one on for Bernie. But I don't anticipate taking off that Hillary sticker!!!

Why is Bernie running as a Dem when being an Independent has been good all these years for him? Has that been explained?

And Tar Heel Dem is right - BS is not a racist - why anyone would even think that is beyond me!

.....slur originally? Of course he's not racist.

On the other hand, regarding his affiliation, being in the Senate he would be swimming on his own if he didn't caucus with the Democrats. One of the few criticisms I have of him is that he has been stubbornly refusing to formally become a Democrat, even to this day. He says he's "running as a Democrat" but insists on still being an Independent. To me that looks like he's playing both sides (or two of the three sides) so when he doesn't get the Democratic nomination he can remain an Independent. I don't like that. If you want to represent an organization you should feel obliged to join that organization.

him down.

But, after Kerry won the nom I got on his bandwagon.. my sister and I went to see him in Manchester, NH right before the election.. 15, 000 other peeps were there too.

I felt like I was punched in the stomach when he lost.

I want Hillary for President now.. not just because she can win but I actually want her in the White House as our President.
