Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumAn early video of Hillary.
A bit painful (because of the sexism) but worth watching (because of how graceful, sweet, and strong Hillary is in it):

I apologize if it's been posted here before.

(3,284 posts)I'm going to refrain from reading the comments on Mediaite, since I don't want to ruin my day. They're pretty bottom of the barrel, usually...around YouTube-level bad.

(15,369 posts)If it's been posted here before, I haven't seen it. Now I have watched the entire interview. I had some static interference, but was still able to get the impression that Hillary was then the same poised, classy, intelligent, and thoughtful person that she is now.
Thank you so much for posting!

(4,187 posts)It shows that Hillary was never the stereotypical "first lady". She was always her own person, always extremely smart and poised.
I didn't think it had been posted here, but I haven't seen every thread that's ever been posted, and the video is old, so I wasn't sure.

(32,623 posts)You could see the strength and poise. What was different was she was a little more candid, just a bit, because it was before the press had linked up with the GOP attack machine against her.
For better or worse, now she is undeniably more.....circumspect?....diplomatic? in all her responses.

(4,187 posts)It breaks my heart to see how open she was, in many ways, and how, over time, she grew to distrust the media, after how badly they treated her.
This article, which Nicholas Kristof referred to in his column today, says that Hillary is as honest as any politician but insists on a "zone of privacy" around her and ends up being seen as untrustworthy. I don't blame her one bit. I admire her for being able to go on fighting after all they've done to her.
