http://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/bernie-sanders-democratic-party-fairness-222355Bernie Sanders says the Democratic Party hasn't been fair to him but he has mixed feelings on the nominating process overall.
"Do you think this process has been fair to you? The Democratic nomination process?" moderator Chuck Todd asked the Vermont senator in an interview filmed Saturday in Baltimore and aired Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"So it sounds like the party, though, you feel like's been fair to you?" Todd asked Sanders.
"No," Sanders responded. "I think we have look, we're taking on the establishment. That's pretty clear."
Pointing to the Democratic debate schedule, of which three of the first four took place on weekend nights, Sanders said they were "scheduled pretty clearly, to my mind, at a time when there would be minimal viewing audience et cetera, et cetera."
"But you know, that's the way it is. We knew we were taking on the establishment," he said. "And here we are. So [I'm] not complaining."
Todd then asked Sanders if he felt he was "given a fair shot" at the Democratic nomination.
"Yeah, we took advantage of the opportunities in front of us. We are in this race. We are not writing our obituary," Sanders said. "We're in this race to California, and we're proud of the campaign we ran."
Clinton is ahead of Sanders by 750 in POLITICO's delegate count, with superdelegates included -- and could wrap up the nomination even if she loses every remaining state. The Sanders campaign has said it plans to persuade superdelegates to switch sides, but has shown little ability to do so thus far.
But Sanders himself betrayed little sign that he intends to quit the race before the final round of contests on June 7, when six states will hold presidential primaries.
Oh really??? I think not...we been to good to you....

So what's his game plan? Factor in Sanders failed efforts to persuade the Democratic Party's superdelegates, who already have long and deep ties to secure their pledges to Clinton, to switch sides, and it must be sinking in that he has no viable chance of winning.
That said, I have a growing concern will he completely break with the Party and strike out on his own in a pique of malicious spite to split the voters, throwing the election to Trump, just to prevent Clinton from winning.
Cha

(23,690 posts)He is nothing more than an interloper. Using the infrastructure of the DNC to his benefit, getting press off of running as a Dem, and participating in the Dem Debates. Except for the exposure he got in those debates, he would be little more than any other 3rd party candidate.

(5,049 posts)Sanders will endorse Sec. Clinton for President. He's no Democrat and right now he is more interested in promoting his own "brand" than helping to elect any Democrats. As someone who has voted Democratic for my entire life, I gotta say, this idea of allowing a non-Deamocrat to use the money and machinery of the party to damage the likely nominee was a terrible idea.
I hope the party has learned its lesson.

(12,448 posts)a lot. I'd support that in a heartbeat!
And even if he does, how credible would an endorsement be after all the things he's said? I'm thinking at this point, no one would take any "endorsement" of his seriously.
He said he used the party to get media coverage.
IMO he has no allegiance to the party, has not supported down ballot Dems, has never held a Dem fundraiser, sued the Dem party, his team hacked into Clinton's server, and now HE says the Democratic party wasn't fair.
And BEYOND THAT, he thinks he might try to persuade super-delegates to support him?
That takes alot of gall. What nerve from an ungrateful interloper. Tuesday can't come soom enough for me.

Sanders shouldn't be using debates either. He lost all of them by most accounts. It's not the "establishment'--it's the message of the candidates. Most voters like Hillary's message better, by latest count.
