(31,828 posts)Yeah - I'm a black woman - we vote.
It's for one of my inner circle of women. We've been friends since high school - 28 years. It's for Anne and her wife.
It's for my dad's brothers and sisters young and old he left behind when he died - think Wesley Clarke, and and Tammy Duckworth and thousands of Iraq and Iran vets.
It's for poor rural and inner city kids.
It's for my niece whose mother is Latina and who due to appearance experiences America as a Latina.
It's for all the small business owners we are friends with.
It's for people who travel outside of the US.
It's for the immigrant who takes a chance on America.
It's for every black family red lined for generations.

(11,243 posts)I would rather roll in dog shit than vote for Trump or Cruz. Bernie Sanders is my 2nd choice but he IS my second choice. And I will honor the will of the majority of Democrats. I think that is the deal I signed on for. I support who I like in the primary, but once it is decided, I fight for the candidate who got the most votes, bow to the majority will. I don't do salty and bitch-assed, at least not for more than a week or two.

(362 posts)I will not vote for Trump but I know three people who had no interest in politics until last year who told me they will vote for Bernie but will switch to Trump if he is not the nominee.
I also know two people on the other side who are Trump supporters who have promised to vote for Bernie if the Republican establishment takes away the nomination from Trump. The interesting part is that both the Republicans have keenly followed politics for many years.

(42,862 posts)... rational and intelligent people and will vote for the party's nominee ... UNLIKE many we see here.
DU is not like the real world. I do believe the ones who say they're not going to vote, it that they'll vote for Donald. I just don't care.
There aren't enough of them to make a difference.
As Susan Sarandon says ... fuck them!

(29,674 posts)But I do know someone who said she and her husband will vote Trump if Sanders isn't the nom. They've had fits about closed primaries, calling them illegal. When I pointed out that Missouri wasn't closed, opened at 6 am and closed at 7pm and that I was in and out in five minutes (same town) and didn't understand why they didn't vote in the primary they became angry. She's a stay at home mom and her kids are in school, he owns a business in his home. She's never bothered voting before, he was a Paulite. She's for whomever he says.
Other Sanders fans have said they understand the importance and will vote Clinton in the GE.

(55 posts)I would go stand in line in the pouring rain to vote for the Democratic candidate--even if it's Bernie--rather than sit by and let those psychopaths on the Republican ticket advance one iota. It is the height of selfishness to put one's own bruised ego above the good of the entire country. Incredible how some people's moral compass points due south while they're convinced it's the opposite.

(15,369 posts)NOT!!!!!! A thousand-plus times NOT! NEVER. EVER.
I will vote for whoever is the Dem nominee. If it's Bernie (the only alternative to Hillary at this point), I'll vote for him.
If by some incredible circumstance, another candidate not currently in the running is selected in a contested convention, I will support whoever that person is. In such a far-fetched scenario, my personal preference would be for Martin O'Malley.
The difference is that I would vote joyfully for MOM - not as joyfully for Bernie - because I know that MOM is a lifelong Dem and can actually accomplish something of what he proposes, as he has clearly demonstrated in his past political positions.
Even though I am fully disillusioned with Bernie right now, I still believe that his heart may be in the right place at bottom. But I also fear that he is almost as much of a loose cannon in his way as Trump himself.

(12,675 posts)Any vote or non-vote that isn't cast for the Democratic nominee is basically a boost for the right-wing.
Sometimes I feel like a certain small subset of pissy BS supporters WANTS the Repubs to win if Bernie isn't nominated. They see it as "punishment" for we minorities who failed to bow down to the will and whims of the liberal white male bloc. If they can't have Bernie, then they are just FINE with women losing reproductive choice, poor people losing food stamps, gays losing marriage rights, etc.
Does anyone else feel that "punishment" vibe from part of the Bernie crowd? A small part, yes, but still...it's freaking creepy.
