Related: About this forumThe absurd Bernie meme that won't die; "the voters just don't know him yet"
Sanders declared on 26 May 2015, the first Democratic debate was 15 Oct 2015. The voters have had many, many months to know you Mr. Sanders; to paraphrase the Book of Daniel, you have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting.

(3,733 posts)The first thing is if the voters just don't know
Bernie yet, well then he is well and truly screwed since
after Tuesday most of the states will have voted so there's no time now to get to know him.
The second thing is this.
If he's drawing these huge rallies and has these millions of followers on social media
then how can they not know him.
You can't argue that he's winning because his rallies are at capacity and then claim
he's an unknown.
Typical dudebro crap.
Just keep making shit up.
Sounds a bit like their candidate.

(15,370 posts)a LOT better when I didn't know him as well as I have come to know him over these past few weeks.
I believe that I am in good company.

(2,550 posts)When he announced, I said crazy Sanders with crazy hair is running.
Then I liked him, because he started talking issues.
1st debate happened, I switched to Hillary because she sounded the most intelligent.
Late February I turned against Sanders because he turned negative, his campaign accuses Hillary of rigging the votes, he hasn't given much detail about how this stuff gets passed and the biggest thing, he seems intent on fracturing the Democratic party.
I used to be able to point to the GOP as the children, but as Bernie starts to realize he's losing, his campaign is throwing a tantrum. I lost a lot a of respect I had for him as a Senator....he's running for the nomination, with no real path to win, yet still heavily fundraising. The super delegates he railed against for so long are now his campaign strategy. No thank you, hypocrisy at its finest.
Hillary is still the one acting like an adult in the entire election.

(11,649 posts)after the 2nd debate. realized she had a better chance of getting things done. basically, she's more qualified.
i don't like him now either since he turned negative.
exactly
My opinion of him has deteriorated rather badly over the last eleven months.
I didn't have a problem with him early in the campaign. I even sent him money because I thought that he would pull Hillary to the left and that having to win the nomination would make Hillary stronger in the general election. Then he started attacking Hillary in ways that would hurt the Democratic Party in the general election. The more I learned about him, the less I liked him.

(4,542 posts)Feel exactly the same. I'm really taken aback over his campaign and how it had deteriorated to nasty. It's even on his face a lot now. Kick myself a bit for letting him fly under my radar.

(14,532 posts)we saw, were not impressed.
Now maybe if he had spent the last few decades supporting equally progressive candidates and getting them into office, things might be different. I might believe he had a chance to pull off some of his platform. Nothing he is promising has a chance in hell to pass through the gNOp filibuster machine.

(3,733 posts)His fans were bitchin about there being a media blackout on Bernie.
The that high profile interview with NYDN and the debate right before
the NY primary.
He was not just beaten...he was baked.
Bernies best forum seems to be the big rally. Big noise, no substance.

(6,551 posts)Because if the voters did really know Bernie, at least some of them would abandon ship.
The media has given him a free pass on his biography. There are videos of him praising Castro, Communist Cuba, and the Sandinistas (check out youtube). There are speeches he made in Cuba and Nicaragua where it is very likely that he said some very not-nice things about his home country.
Knowing his full biography is his campaign's greatest fear. They know that the Republicans have thoroughly researched this and are holding their powder. Bolshevik Bernie, I expect will be theme of many of their ads.
The Republicans haven't said a peep about him. They want him to be the nominee.
It's a ridiculous meme.

(10,893 posts)not only after all these months during the primaries, but also after the past several decades of him serving public office, that's pretty sad on his part. It means that he's not as influential as some of his supporters paint him as.

(10,437 posts)any crazy conservative ranting and raving about this and that....he has never built consensus and always takes the extra step to alienate.....thats my take on watching him in congress for decades...I agree with much what he says but he can't get anything done...couldn't has a congressman or a senator....and zero chance as president....

(42,862 posts)Much of his early "success" can be attributed in part to the fact that voters didn't know him. As time goes on, and as the scrutiny increased, people decided that they didn't like what they saw, or they didn't believe what they heard.
livetohike
(22,147 posts)That goes straight to his judgement, character, temperament and common sense. All of which are lacking.
This was the turning point in his campaign, in my opinion.
