Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumOkay, I'm done. Not wasting time talking about Sanders any more.
I've spent a lot of time today in threads with Hillary haters who are still fighting the Primary.
They are still pushing the same old bullshit. Again and again and again as if it matters when that battle is clearly over and they're just beating the horse that's been dead and buried for some time now. And I'm helping them!
It is dumb of me. We all know that the Primary is over. Sanders is a footnote of history.
They are going to go on with their ridiculous demands for attention and concessions. They're going to go on telling us, one by one, how they are not going to vote for Hillary in the general. (Really, why do they all think they need to do that? And after they have done that and made themselves irrelevant in the general election, why would they think that anyone would care what they had to say?)
I'm going to come to my senses. I'm turning my attention. First I'm going to spend a little while basking in the fact that we have chosen one of the best candidates ever, and then I'm going to concentrate only on the general from here on.
Can't stand that Drumpf.

(135,425 posts)WAY. Grrrrr!
They have to resolve these violent emotions in some fashion, and the way that they think is "cool" is lashing out on the internet. They relieve themselves of some of that awful frustration, and they get high fives from their similarly-deluded buddies.
That's pretty much the POV of the people we know, who have been here for years.
The people we don't know, the n00bs, who are here name-calling and getting all vicious and ugly, well, they're just trolls. Trump supporting assholes, or Cruz-cheering putzes, who think that they're "driving a wedge" between Democrats with their nastiness.
Gotta feel sorry for them, the disappointed Bernie supporters, and the Trumpy trolls. They're on the losing team, on the wrong side of history.

(4,309 posts)I can't believe people would condemn us all to Cruz or Trump because their Dem is not the nominee.

(50,955 posts)reasonable. This frankly terrifies me. I fear that he can pull that off.

(4,309 posts)He scares the hell out of me.
Even scarier is the fact that so many support him.

(13,218 posts)Their mentality is one of slogans, posters, bumper stickers, captions, jingles, and catch phrases. They mock the GOP in that their basis for argument is falsehoods, shaky opinions, and non-facts. And their logic is all the standard fallacies and wish lists. Now that they've lost they're ready to make their demands known. In short, they iz loonie. I like your plan.
Squinch
(50,955 posts)that is out there about Hillary. The number of things that people say as if they are gospel truth that never happened. They truly believe they are true just because they have heard them so often.
It has been pretty brutal in the primary, and I think we have a good idea of what is coming, but in the general it will of course be much more intense. I think it WILL be worth our while to debunk as much of that as we can. Sparkly's thread provides a good list of what the issues will be, but I am also glad to realize that the issues that were brought up were mostly wrong or misstated.

(24,396 posts)There's a mountain of disinformation out there that is readily given the lie by something as basic as the Warren Commission Report - ballistics evidence, scientific evidence, etc. Yet people who have never even read the report know what it said, know what it omits and what it lies about. All because they believe their position is one of moral superiority, and that they are fighting the good fight against the evil powers that be.
I see the same behavior and attitude in the Hillary haters.

(7,480 posts)Giving them attention makes as much sense as giving a person throwing a tantrum -- you're only wasting your time and eventually they'll calm down, pass out, or become irrelevant.

(15,370 posts)and are lashing out, but are essentially people of good sense.
Others are grandstanding and will continue to do so no matter what. They were never in it for the long haul, one way or another and would have dropped Bernie in a nanosecond if he ever once - as he was bound to sometime - deviated from their inflexible purist standards. Others are Paulites and others genuine CDS-afflicted persons who were never going to support a Democrat in any event.
The first group will likely see reason at some point, but they will have to come to it when they're ready. We should just leave them alone for now, but unconditionally welcome them back into the Big Tent when they're ready. Those in the other groups will likely either not vote at all or will vote against their own interests - just as they self-righteously accuse so many others of doing.
In the meantime, we must go forward and support our candidate in every way. We have some important primaries coming up Tuesday and we should in NO WAY be complacent about them. While things look very good for Hillary right now, it's never over until it's over.

(24,149 posts)And maybe someone reading it had a second thought. You never know!
But I agree, it's not about them. Their minds are closed, like fundamentalists pointing to the same beliefs as "The Truth," no matter what. We might as well be arguing with Freepers. Same tune, different key.
While on that metaphor, I'm sure you've heard this: "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time, and annoys the pig."
Hang in there, Squinch -- and thanks again for having my back (and HERS)!!

(5,624 posts)there are some folks dug in so deep nothing could nudge them in the direction we feel to be the best for the country no more than we'd move on unless no other choice whether they be new dems, old dems or the independents looking for leadership.
You also have to realize that many on this forum are "DINOs or IINOs" or repubs in disguise and are here only to cause problems. We're probably out numbered 6 to 1. The true BSSers see the vision BS espouses which may not be entirely bad but we don't see the "implementation" to the visions as even being remotely possible.
It's best we spend our time on GE endeavors....get out the vote, providing information to those receptive to listening about Hillary and using that new site CORRECT THE RECORD to help in educating ourselves and others to the benefits of a Clinton administration.
I plan on sticking in this forum and leaving the others to their self destruction. Perhaps one day DU will return to the dem discussion forum we all remembered which seems a life time ago........if not, then we'll need to find a new home perhaps.
Hang on everyone.................

I agree that it's pointless to argue with Sanders supporters. It's just very hard to avoid it. I can't wait for this whole thing to be over.

(50,955 posts)know what it is that keeps pulling me back.
I think we have to just accept that there are some Sanders supporters who are going to be like the Japanese soldiers that emerged from the mountains in the 70's asking if World War 2 was over. They are loony and they signify nothing.
I plan to just ignore them and move on.
