Bernie Sanders doesn’t understand what majority-rule democracy is

http://www.dailynewsbin.com/opinion/bernie-sanders-doesnt-understand-what-majority-rule-democracy-is/24568/

When a candidate finds some minority of support but never comes close to getting fifty percent of the popular vote and ultimately has to begin folding up the tent, those final days can reveal things about the candidate that weren’t previously known to either his supporters or his detractors. Now that Bernie Sanders has lost the 2016 democratic primary race by millions of votes nationwide, the pattern of behavior we’re seeing is historically disturbing: he thinks he should be declared the winner anyway. He’s demanding total control over a political party whose voters just finished soundly rejecting him. And most distressingly of all, he keeps feeding his supporters false information so they’ll think he is winning.

It’s difficult to find a recent American election quite like this one. Candidates who lose by the narrowest of margins routinely demand a recount, with good reason. But in the case of Bernie Sanders, he only has 42% of the popular vote nationwide, with Hillary Clinton having the other 58% of the popular vote. From everything we’ve learned so far about demographics and the accuracy of polls and the voting formats in this primary race, these last few states to vote will still leave him with no more than about 42% in the final tally, perhaps even less. When has anyone ever lost a race by sixteen percent and tried to claim he won anyway?

As he’s now threatening to withhold support for Clinton unless she and the Democratic Party adopt every one of his positions.
