Could the 2016 Election Be Stolen with Help from Electronic Voting Machines?

HARVEY WASSERMAN: Well, electronic voting was used to steal the presidential election right here in Ohio in 2004. John Kerry was the rightful winner in 2004 over George W. Bush. The secretary of state at the time, J. Kenneth Blackwell, and the governor, Robert Taft, used their power of electronic vote count to flip the vote to George W. Bush from John Kerry.


HARVEY WASSERMAN: We have to have universal, hand-counted paper ballots. And Bernie Sanders has endorsed that. We have to have automatic voter registration, where people can monitor the registration rolls, because people are being stripped from the registration rolls, mostly, of course, African-American and Hispanic. But this year, we’re not going to get that. And this year, it’s going to be very, very difficult, in a close election, to monitor exactly what happens, because these are black boxes. We have a wonderful actress named Bev Harris, who’s been working with Greg Palast and others, who has shown, in black box voting, that the public has no real access, no verification process for the electronic votes. And so we’re going through this huge charade here of a national campaign, primaries and then a general election, where hundreds of millions of dollars will be spent, and on election night, in 60 seconds, the actual outcome can be flipped electronically in key swing states with no verification whatsoever.


Could this Happen again to us with the Republicans ........will there be a safe election....

I and hubby where sitting and the Dem quarters that night as we did campaigning for Kerry also

watching the numbers coming in I could not believe how quick the map turn to red as it was stolen right front of your eyes you could see it...... as if it was stolen...just like Bush and Gore where Bush stole our election from Gore and I will never forget that day....

I surely hope not ......hopefully it be a safe election...for our Hillary

1. There has to be a way to protect against this

Perhaps an official tally (hard copy) that has each voter initial and indicate who they voted for as they leave. Then it could be cross checked if the final machine tally looks suspicious, and then the machines could be audited. If any "patches" are found then the unofficial exit polls would be tallied and votes would have to be verified. The program used would have to be scrutinized from its main source, too. Criminal indictments should follow. Costly, but how else will we stop this?

I personally think mail-in ballots are better, or on-line ones that each voter can print out for hard copy.

2. I agree make a copy of the printed ballot or take a photo of it .

Believe or not we took a photo of our Paul McCartney tickets just in case they got stolen that's if you are traveling with tickets.

3. If anything can steal the election for Repubs, it's newly enacted voter suppression/JimCrow-style

laws being used in those crucial States.

Voter suppression laws, thanks to the SCOTUS gutting the Voting Rights Act, will be enacted this presidential year for the very first time.

People still don't know there are elections every TWO not five years. This works to the benefit of the GOP. If we can get out the word to vote in each and every election, and every two not five years, we can win back the States and State legislatures, and undo what Republicans have successfully been doing for much too long - stealing elections.
