Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumThe wheels seem to be coming off the Bernie bus
I've been on DU since 2002.
I've never seen anything like this.
I saw links posted today from Fox News and the Washington Examiner.
I've seen nasty primary seasons before but never one where
DUers were using RW media as sources.
I've also seen ugly splits during primaries. In fact every primary.
This is the first time i've seen the kind of group denial to the point that it's
almost sad.
The Bernie can close the gap posts or the posts stating he'll win California by a
large enough margin that it puts him in front.
Or that the super delegates are going to suddenly flip to him.
And the saddest of all the ones wishing for an idictment.
As I just said I've seen heated and even sometimes ugly promaries here.
But this has crossed the rubicon into delusional and it's picking up steam.

(5,044 posts)I'm grateful that DU is installing the changes, honestly I wouldn't come back otherwise. It's not an enjoyable experience when it's hijacked.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)but I think after next Tuesday it will start to right itself.
At some point pretty soon she will have an unbeatable lock.
I'm sure that the Bernie voters that are really just trolls will try to keep the poo flinging going
but the real Bernie or Bust true belivers will probably start to break up and go somewhere else.
Don't they have another site they go to already?
Sparkly
(24,149 posts)They'll create their own site, if they haven't already.

(3,733 posts)I really do think it will get better soon and when it starts getting better
the improvement will be fast.
After Tuesday even some of his die hard fans will realize
it's over.

(10,893 posts)They have here, Reddit, Daily Kos, Crooks & Liars, Raw Story, Talking Points Memo, and many more. In fact, I have even seen some try to invade The People's View (which is a mostly pro-Hillary/Obama blog), but luckily the moderating is much stronger there and people like Spandan and Liberal Librarian have low tolerance for the immature and ignorant comments.

(10,845 posts)By the tone of their posts it wouldn't surprise me that a number of them are trolls. No real Dem acts like they have.

On Fri Apr 22, 2016, 06:42 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
Jane Sanders Sounds Like a Republican on Sandy Hook
http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511813309
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This right here makes DU suck. Hide or don't hide, this is slander against the wife of a politician just for the sake of it.
Can we PLEASE rise above such nonsense?
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Apr 22, 2016, 06:50 PM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Disgusting blog post? Totally. Hide-worthy OP? Not so much these days.
Strongly suggest arguing with the point of view presented rather than trying to get it hidden.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not sure how talking about what she said is slander.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Political article in the primary forum. Disagree with it in thread.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: If Jane is expressing her opinions in her involvement in her husband's campaign, she is fair game just as is Bill Clinton. This alert is ridiculous. She's no shrinking violet.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: While I'd love to rise above such nonsense, an opinion is not "slander" and Jane Sanders is a public figure who I'm sure has heard far worse. Rebut in the comments, don't hide.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

was that you didn't have to see that crap.

There's a reason I don't go to message boards on Yahoo lol.
Hopefully Skinner will call it soon and maybe this will calm down.
I keep thinking it can't get worse and then it does.

(3,733 posts)There's some serious paranoia going on
All kinds of conspiracy theories and people like Hartman who
were wise sages a week ago are now under the bus.
I hate to admit it but it's like a slow montion trainwreck that I'd
rather not see and yet I can't seem to look away lol.

(5,049 posts)It is never pretty watching a political campaign unravel. This one is worse than most.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)It wasn't just the unraveling it was like a bag of vipers that somebody kicked.
I never thought I'd see something like this from Democratic campaign.

(53,791 posts)He gently suggested that Bernie needs to really sit down and re-access the continue appeal for funds from his supporters because to continue that while knowing there is no path to getting the nomination is, well, fraud.
You can't ask for money for something you know is not going to happen.

(50,950 posts)Yes there is too much RW sourcing going on at this site.
I've been serving jury duty a lot recently.
This is the first time that I have been blocked from a group.

Lucinda
(31,170 posts)We have a lot of brand new "Dems" that have just come into the party for Bernie, with zero political experience, and they will post anything that is critical of Hillary.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)of the most robust members of Team Bernie
are fairly new but there are some DUers I recognize
from years ago who seem to be on the Bernie or Bust plan.
You'd think the veterans would stop short of condoning the RW sources.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)get quite mean and actually seem gleeful at the misinformation being spread, and the vilification of Hillary's supporters. Even to the point of cheering on the people protesting Dem fund raisers for down ticket races.
Some, I think, bought way too much into the nastiness the Clinton's were accused of in 08. Obama has even come out saying that he wished things had been handled better by his team back then. People really should have known better, but some will believe anything if it suits their own prejudices, I guess.
And I haven't seen anything posted this year, but I know there have been many women on DU in the past, that have disliked Hillary for years because she didn't leave Bill when the Lewinsky scandal broke.
So you have a mixed bag of people who really have no idea who Hillary is and what she has accomplished, because they haven't bothered to look. You can always tell those people from the ones who just are ready for something new, because there isn't much animosity towards Hillary, they just want to support the most left leaning one running.
It all was pretty shocking to me for a while, but I get it now. Just because someone posts for years on political board, doesn't mean they actually dig in and research issues and candidates.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)and a poster said they thought Bernie could still win if something like a credible
rape charge was brought against Bill Clinton and that it didn't seem inconceivable.
Jesus what's next Vince Foster and Whitewater.

(3,733 posts)I alerted on one like it earlier today about how Hillarys indictment was impending
the 2 sources were Fox News and the Washington Examinaer.
Jury voted 5-2 to Leave it alone.
They obviously have the numbers.
At least until the primary is settled.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)When Skinner posted the change on the 5 strike rule, he said they were going to take a close look at jury results, because there had been a huge amount partisan results (like stalking going on in a deliberate attempt to get people suspended) Skinner cleared a whole lot of the really bad ones out recently, so I am sure he is keeping his word that they would watch juries more closely.

(1,446 posts)I'm assuming on other online sites as well. It is much better to have them sitting in front of a computer somewhere, aiming their attacks at people who have already made up their minds. When I talk to my 'real life' friends, most have no idea how far off the deep end the Bernie folk have fallen. They just see on the news that Hillary is winning, and don't think much more about the Democratic primary. I figure that we are doing a service, keeping the wackos engaged and busy here on DU. That way they don't have time to take their theories out to the rest of the population.
My friends who are into politics, and who read online comments, are all strongly decided about their candidate, so no one is being swayed here.
griffi94
(3,733 posts)There's also this.
I know some Bernie fans in real life who voted for
him or will vote for him in the primary.
BUt they don't hate Hillary and will happily vote for her
in November.
The very few Bernie or Bust people I know IRL they mostly dont't vote or vote 3rd party anyway
so it's not like we've lost a vote.
