Dumb Criminals: Trinidad Drug Smuggler Traveling Through JFK Hid Cocaine In Meat

NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a man arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport attempted to bring in more than seven pounds of cocaine — hidden in frozen food.

Customs and Border Protection stopped the man last month, after he had come into the country on a flight from Trinidad.

While inspecting his luggage, officials found three packages of frozen meat. They also found white powder in the meat that they say tested positive for cocaine.

Well, I guess if you're Trinidadian, you're gonna get a bit of extra scrutiny! MADem Apr 2014 #3

Who apparently found another hiding place;

Four days after that incident, another Trinidadian, Alister King, was also held for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine into New York after leaving Trinidad aboard Caribbean Airlines flight 520.

King, who was stopped for a routine search, according to US special agent Derek Bergman, “appeared nervous”.

King’s personal baggage was searched and it was during this search, King appeared nervous, Bergman stated.

Bergman revealed in the court document a full-body search was authorised and “a bulky item was discovered in the defendant’s groin area”.
