Policeman turns in son who ran £3,700 iPad bill
A policeman turned in his own teenage son for fraud in a bid to escape a £3,700 bill on his iPad, which the teenager had ran up by mistake.
Doug Crossan, 48, was taken by surprise when his credit card company rang to tell him of the large balance outstanding, which he believed he had paid off six months ago.
His son Cameron, 13, had "innocently" purchased apps over three months from iTunes, the download selling arm of Apple, that had cost as much as £77.98 each.

Whoever said "One born every minute" has never seen an in-app purchase. Any wonder why I think they're the spawn of the devil?

(18,219 posts)1. And this is how the zombie apocalypse started.
Just kidding.
I don't have a cell phone, and have no idea what apps are available if I had one, but WTF kind of app would cost over almost $120??????? Seriously????

(100,081 posts)2. Angry Birds charges like $1 per power up.
Easy to see how this could happen but still ridiculous.

(18,219 posts)3. Ummmm,
What is a power up? How long do you play on a power up, or is that before you can even play?
As I stated, I don't know about these things.

(100,081 posts)4. It's something that enhances game play and gives characters new abilities.
And companies are now charging while you're playing the game to buy these items. Fuck that. I will never pay money for these items.

If I was that kid's parents, I'd call the cops too.
