People just don't seem to get it. Theme parks don't want you using selfie sticks on their rides.
So on Friday, Walt Disney World went a step further to make that point. It posted a "No Selfie Sticks" sign at the Magic Kingdom's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Guests can bring selfie sticks on the rides but must securely store them, a Disney spokeswoman said Monday.
Disney policy forbids visitors from using the sticks, which can be used to extend cameras out for up to 3 feet, on its rides.

(16,230 posts)Sure, let's stick something 3 feet out from the ride and smack a passerby in the face or hit a beam, break the stick off, and injure the person behind us. What are people thinking?

(3,051 posts)Of course, in my life, I've personally seen:
A person back off into the grand canyon and die taking a picture
People feeding bears by hand in Yosemete (no known injuries)
A guy trying to pet a bull at the Houston Livestock Show (tackled by a cowboy before he got stomped)
A soldier shoot a buddy screwing around with a captured German rifle (DOA)
A guy strolling on top of a moving subway car (no idea what happened)
And George W Bush kind of win two elections (sigh)
So maybe this warning really is needed.

(45,488 posts)Guy silently walks up, sets a four year old on the back of a bison and steps back to take a photo. Bison takes off and charges right thru the guy. Guy suffers a broken arm, nose, and cracked ribs. Crying kid tumbles off the back of the bison, unharmed. It happened so fast, I couldn't even shout a warning. Park Ranger called him a F'ing dumbass as they loaded him into an ambulance.

(60,335 posts)Those damn sticks are a pain in the ass. We were at WCW in late December on one of their busiest days and idiots were sticking those things everywhere.
