Time to Stand Up

Obama Speaks from University of Hartford (Connecticut)

Published on Apr 8, 2013

With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he's "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. "If you're an American who wants to do something to prevent more families from knowing the immeasurable anguish that these families know, now is the time to act," Obama said from the University of Hartford.

This video is about 25 minutes and he addresses every concern and is well worth the time to watch it. Thank to bigtree for bringing this to DU, posting it with permission.

A moving speech by our President.

"It's not about politics, it's about what's right."

I watched one of the mom's behind Obama, I do not know which one she is but remembered her face. Tonight, her expression was so heartbreaking. She was doing everything to hold herself together.

You are Right, it's time to stand up.

We deserve a vote on this. Ninety percent of Americans, want that.

Thank you, freshwest and bigtree for posting this video.

Why not have the courage to have it come to a vote?

If their constituents want the status quo, why not prove it to them?

The American people, those children and all the others Obama mentioned in the video, deserve to be heard.

There is a email and contact list in GCRA that I'll post here for those who want to use it. Of course the OFA has been working on this since Sandy Hook.

EDIT: Didn't find it there, but those who care already know how to get in touch with their elected officials. Those who don't, can keep reading onlline stories.

And please do post the email contact.

As for the 3 Stooges that plan to filibuster, may they face the wrath of God and the 90% of Americans that support this! They are souless bastards.

Thanks, freshwest.

8. Contact the Congress through interactive map, zip codes, etc:

Online Directory for the 113th Congress

http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

It supplies names, phone numbers in Washington, D.C., fax numbers and how to contact them.

Note the search choices on the page, where you can click for information on Committees, Leadership, Schedules and Other Branches.

Those who want to contact their representatives can also find how to contact with their district offices.

Be aware that their software may or may not reject your contact if you are not a resident of their district, as they are elected to represent the thousands or millions within their states, not the entire country.

...and the country.

I have differences with the President on some aspects of education reform, but I am grateful that we have a President who genuinely cares about our children and their future. I shudder to think where the country would be now if either McCain or Romney would have been elected.

GREAT speech, Mr. President! And THANK YOU.

So many Americans have forgotten that we run this country. It is up to all Americans to tell them what we want and stay on top of them to make sure they do it. To do so you must reach your employees and tell them what you want.

These sites help you to start to find names, offices, email, fax machines, phones, Facebook pages, twitter, and official contact sites.
