33 of them which have already passed anti-equality laws.

The mission of the Barack Obama Group is to discuss information and news about the life, career, accomplishments, and presidency of Barack Obama; to provide a haven for those members of Democratic Underground who support the president and his policies; to discuss President Obama's policy positions, speeches, interviews, and other public appearances; to discuss President Obama's political campaigns; and to discuss the causes which President Obama has championed, including health care reform and ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Those who have a generally negative view of President Obama and his administration, support his defeat in the 2012 presidential election (in primaries or the general election), or who are generally supportive of those who do, are not welcome in the Barack Obama Group.

didn't actually accomplish anything of substance was frowned upon. Nothing changed, he merely deferred to the states which have continually denied equal rights to Gay couples which wish to marry.

His position is akin to saying "I believe segregation is wrong but I'll let the states decide the issue". Hardly real leadership.

reactions. It's a BFD. Now go read that statement of purpose for this group again; you will be banned from here if you continue to disparage President Obama.

and I've not disparaged anyone. I stated a fact about his position. He has deferred to the states 33 of which have banned gay marriage.

Instead of getting pissy, why not simply acknowledge the facts.

Marriage is under the administration of state law not federal.

The President is taking action to try and get DOMA reversed, again a Congressional action not an executive.

During the Obama administration the Federal Governmnet has taken a consistent, aggressive and successful stance of protecting the civil rights of the GLBT community.

Time is now on our side and the rest of the rights at the state and city level will be achieved.

There is one other aspect that you have failed to acknowledge and that is the power of the President's opinion outside of the United States. Millions of GLBT individuals and families outside of the US realized that their situation change when the President of the US spoke out for them as well.
