Can you have 2 Macs with the same login?

My old MacBook is getting tired so yesterday I got a new (rebuilt) MacBook Pro but it won't let me sign up/in. I gave it all the same info as the older one but it told me it wasn't able to sign me up and it didn't say why. I used all the same info because I thought that would make it easier to transfer all my files from one to the other. Since it didn't come with a manual I'm just winging it here.

I realize I should call MacSales (OWC) but it is Sunday so I thought I'd just put that question here before I try anything else. Thanks for any insights you might have about this.

It's not for everyone, but you might look into using the "Migration assistant" to move your files from one machine to the other. It works pretty well, though it seems to take a really long time for what it does.

When you say you cannot sign up/in, do you mean when you initially try to create the new user account? Or, are you saying you cannot sign into Apple?

There's no reason not to use the same credentials; so hope you get this sorted
