http://www.virginmobileusa.com/mobile-broadband/broadband2go.html

I can get a 3g network through virgin mobile usa versus my 10mbs for $50 month

One I can take anywhere - the other I am limited to home

Use the MiFi 2200 Mobile Hotspot to connect up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices to the 3G wireless internet. No contract.

When you say "10mbs", do you mean 10 Megabits or 10 Megabytes per second? Old and In the Way Feb 2012 #3
300 times as fast Syrinx Feb 2012 #4
3G or 4G are just names for cellphone services. They have nothing to do with actual speed. hobbit709 Feb 2012 #5

3G Networks -- Test Results
AT&T LaptopConnect Sprint Mobile Broadband Verizon BroadBandAccess
Peak download speed* 1.6Mbit/sec. 1.2Mbit/sec. 1.3Mbit/sec.
Average download speed* 755Kbit/sec. 494Kbit/sec. 592Kbit/sec.
Average upload speed* 484Kbit/sec. 294Kbit/sec. 232Kbit/sec.
Connection time** 3.0 seconds 3.7 seconds 5.6 seconds
Time to load Web page** .228 seconds .224 seconds .230 seconds
Battery life lowered by** 40 minutes 1 hour 20 minutes

So a 3G network is not going to be very fast...OK if you are surfing the net, but you won't be happy with watching streaming video.

A 10 megabits connection would be faster than 3G.....10Megabytes would be 8x faster than 10Megabits.

(That's the answer to what I first thought you were asking. The extraneous "b" confused me for a second.)

The only way to get 3Gbps would be in a fiber optic setup.
