I still have some of the small floppys
like you know 2HD Maxell. Is there anyway to transfer what's on them using the CDRom on my new PC ? (Cursing that I didn't make a digital copy)

(4,717 posts)Amazon has some, some as low as $10. Now I hope you mean 3 1/2 1.44 MB floppies, because if you mean 5 1/4, you may have some difficulty finding a drive outside of an old (and I mean old, like PC/XT/AT era) computer.

(5,946 posts)I just spent months changing photos over from that. I will now be getting rid of that computer. and be down to a mere 6 old computers in my house.

(3,270 posts)or any other mass-copy shop in your area. Chances are they will have a floppy drive computer and if you take them a cheap thumb drive from Staples, they will transfer the data to it for a very reasonable cost. Also.. call your local public library... they may have the old equipment to perform the task.

Assume they contain spyware and are going to send your files off to some miscreants who lack a conscience.
The safest route is to buy the USB floppy drive, especially one that doesn't require installation of any special software like this one:
