Bad cookies, bad bad cookies......


ALL of these collect information about the pages you view and your activities on the site

enable the site to recognize you, for example by:

remembering your user ID

1. There are programs to erase "storage" cookies too.

Better Privacy is a free app from Mozilla that shows the long lasting cookies on the browser.
I am amazed at how many of them remain after an online session.

Keep the buggers off you computer in the first place. The explanation at the top of this link describes what a HOSTS file does and there are specific OS installation details linked a bit lower on the page.

Note that the file HOSTS is a text file but it has no .txt extension. Don't add one as it won't work.

It's almost always part of the issues when a friend brings me a laptop complaining of slowness.

Something i erase along with as many add-ons and toolbars as possible before my friend starts crying he needs them.
