WK + C = exposing Charms bar
WK + F = opens Search charm to search files
WK + Q = opens Search charm to search apps
WK + H = opens the Share charm
WK + I = opens the Settings charm where you'll find the power button
WK + K = opens the Devices charm
WK + Shift key + period key (.) = snap an app to the left
WK + period key = snap an app to the right
WK + J = switch the main app and the snapped app
WK + CTRL + Tab key = cycle through open apps (except Desktop app)
WK + D = switch from Modern/Metro (ugh) to Desktop mode (this should be highly useful !!)
WK + X = Access a slew of Windows tools like Power Options, Device Manager, Control Panel, Run, etc. (should also be highly useful !)

(8,209 posts)I would go to where you bought it and ask them to install it, even if it costs you a few bucks,

(11,843 posts)Total pain in the ass going from XP to Windows 8. Starting with Office 2007, Microsoft started throwing away everything that made them the corporate choice, standardized interfaces that let you figure out any Office program if you knew any other one. Hiding everything behind keyboard shortcuts. I hated WordPerfect in the early 90s for that reason and now Microsoft is pushing people towards creating freaking keyboard overlays to figure out basic operations.
Upgrading an XP computer to Windows 8 is likely to be rare occurrence, XP hardware is so outdated that it would be cheaper to buy new. I say this as someone who has to nurse along an XP box at work to support a program written in VB6, while also coding in Visual Studio 2010.
