Question on error message, IE

When I open a web page in IE it opens fine yet I get a pop up message "Internet Explorer has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution." Thing is the browser's working fine. I've been deleting the message and continue browsing, but why the error message?

Thanks for any input you may have. ~ pinto

I get those too even though I don't use IE. It's tied into the guts of the OS (intentionally). I get them in waves for a few weeks and then the messages mysteriously go away for a few months. I'm yet to notice that it has caused a problem to just close them. A similar message pops up once in a while for "Host process for Windows services". Same thing - annoyance. If you get one for "Windows Explorer", that's bad.

Thanks for the feed back. Seems no more than a minor annoyance, just wanted to run by folks more tech savvy than I. Which is the vast majority of the DU membership...

Are your updates current? Auto-update is a clusterfuck on Vista, but it actually works well on Win7. The only problem I have with it on Win7 is that it reboots on its own (at 3 a.m.) and doesn't restore the open applications and files. That shouldn't be so hard. With a 27" widescreen and a 19" secondary, I can occupy a LOT of real estate in all eight of the usernames on the machine (individual purposes). Reviving my "universe" after a reboot takes a LOOOOOONNNGGG time.
