Firefox wants me to disable my Java Platform SE 6U24
Says it has stability and security issues.
Should I disable it and what will I lose?

(32,139 posts)My understanding was that obsolete versions of Java leave security holes through which trojans could possibly gain access to your system, and that it's important to get rid of them when you update to a new version.
I figured it would be good to have Firefox warn that the version you're using is obsolete so that you can get rid of it and get the new version.

Firefox did disable the old version and I could not load some Java apps, like crossword puzzles.
Found a similar upgrade on my MAC and upgraded it as well.
