good old KB3035538 is now an "IMPORTANT" update.
I hid it before when it was a "recommended" update but now it's back. They really want to stick you with 10, whether you want it or not.

(1,642 posts)They want it too badly. One cannot shut off all the spying (telemetry) functions in 10, no matter what one does.
Has to be blocked at the router.
I'm confident they'll throw this update at us again with a different KB#.

(16,230 posts)What's really annoying is that they don't describe what it is in the update window. You have to click a "more information" link to open a web page to see that it's for Windows 10. I'm pretty sure that they add this extra step to make it less likely that people will realize what it is.

(43,049 posts)especially if you've already fallen into 8.1. I agree with anyone who says that miserable Edge browser sucks, but other than that it's been extremely stable and useful so far. I like it better than 8.1, which I liked better than 7. (Or does that make me the asshole?)
MS does spy on you, but can anyone seriously say it's more nefarious than Amazon, Google, or Facebook?
Or NSA?

I block M$ prolly 30-50 times a day now,but I still get updates.?

Staying away from W10 isn't going to stop Google from tracking your every move. Or Target from studying your purchasing habits.
Or your car from memorizing your driving habits.

(41,694 posts)My 24 year old pickup doesn't have a computer that tracks me.
My phone isn't used for anything except making/receiving calls. All other features are OFF
Google is not my search engine.
I don't particularly care for an OS that won't let me tweak settings and even tries to hide some of them from me.
Most of my purchases are made with cash.

(1,642 posts)Great, you love 10! We get it. Other people don't.
My main system runs quite stable under 8.1. I tried the upgrade to 10, it crashes all the time.
That Google spies on me, does not mean I should let Microsoft do it. Microsoft is much closer to my every action than Google.
It's none of their business what programs I run, when I run them, or for that matter who I am.
I have a Microsoft developer account. All my Windows systems use only local logins.
