Arghhhh.... Windows 10

I knew better than to upgrade so soon. But there was that hope...

Has anyone else yet encountered the inability to schedule updates? In fact, the download happened without waiting for non-metered time (12-5 am) as I had set-up downloads.

Now I find you can't schedule updates; it's all pre-set to automatic.

Anyone else?

I would be willing to bet they will address that as I am sure you are not alone in this predicament. On the plus side I have read that the updates will be limited to 3 times per year. So with any luck the first update will address the issue you have. I imagine there will be lots of pushback on this and they will do it sooner than later.

I will be lucky to ever get it with the speeds we have where I live. I doubt I could get it in a day so I am just hoping it gets downloaded one day.

I would expect they would let us set that up. The last thing people need is to be hassled by updates when they do not want them.

Otherwise, I hope this goes well. I think I will like it generally, if I get it.

From what I can tell, it gives me the ability to defer upgrades. Now the security updates are automatic, but you can schedule the reboot to a better time. I think Microsoft is going to have to rethink this one. I understand their desire for everyone to be updated security-wise, but people NEED more control over it. Also, the fact that sometimes the updates go bad is a factor.

PRO lets you defer updates.

Pro can be a free update. But only from Pro versions of 7 and 8

I should have emphasized that part in my response. Windows 10 Home version does not offer that ability.

In doing so MS used up 40% of my monthly bandwidth. Fortunately the install failed.

Fuck, fuck fuck Microsoft.

And try to find a setting to only download in unmetered time! I found one on my laptop (somewhere?) but not in Windows 10.
