Windows 10 free upgrade to Windows 7

Should I or shouldn't I?

My computer is very old, a big Dell tower, large heavy Dell monitor, and if you want details about memory, etc., tell me where to find what you want and will send....

Windows 10 was launched Jul 29, and I think I read that I have one year to get the update, and it will be serviced for the life of Windows 10.

It supposed to be FREE. What's the catch?

4. Heard (on the internet of course)

That the good folks at MS are going to use the public as a massive Beta testing lab. In other words, release the beast and wait to hear what comes out of it and THEN fix the problems.

Knowing my past experiences with Windows and Microsoft, I kinda believe this.

By the way, I went from Vista to Windows 8.1 and want to tell you, I was ready at one point to throw the damn thing out. The learning curve was not a curve but a wall to scale. OK now, but I still experience more freeze-ups and gremlins in it than I like.

Actually, here’s one excerpt from Microsoft’s privacy statement that everyone can understand:

Finally, we will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to: 1.comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including from law enforcement or other government agencies; 2.protect our customers, for example to prevent spam or attempts to defraud users of the services, or to help prevent the loss of life or serious injury of anyone; 3.operate and maintain the security of our services, including to prevent or stop an attack on our computer systems or networks; or 4.protect the rights or property of Microsoft, including enforcing the terms governing the use of the services – however, if we receive information indicating that someone is using our services to traffic in stolen intellectual or physical property of Microsoft, we will not inspect a customer’s private content ourselves, but we may refer the matter to law enforcement.

Interesting article and advice, perhaps. I certainly would wait to find out more before installing.

6. Can DU'ers pitch in together and buy a server of our own

that doesn't read and save our emails and call the cops on us if we inadvertently have an idea that someone else thought up long before us, and Microsoft calls the cops on us?

I'm afraid DU having their own server would do nothing to help that out.

I have been using 10 for at least two months now and so far my experience with it has been very positive.
