My android tablet got cracked. Is there anyway to fix it?
I had it in a padded case. It slid off the padded seat in a restaurant and didn't fall very far at all but it must have landed right on the corner of the case. First I thought just thought the corner was chipped just a little but then a crack started up the side.
Now it turns on but just does crazy stuff.
Is there anyway to fix it or will it cost more to fix it than it's worth? I'm just sick. I have been so careful with it. I knew they were fragile but I didn't realize they were that fragile.

(18,479 posts)...you may be better off replacing it. You know best what you need it for so you can make sure you get exactly that. I have a 7" Blackberry tablet with WiFi only but 64 GB of memory. I use it for light surfing and watching movies. I bought it used/refurbed for $85 with a 30 day warranty.
For repair I see screens priced between $25 and $70 and I imagine you should add another $30 to $75 in labor. $36 is probably very low. Unless you find a tech with a local storefront, there's shipping costs both ways.
Personally, unless you've spent a lot or have a warranty, I'd replace it. You may even be able the sell the broken tablet for parts. Check ebay for prices.

(18,868 posts)I'm going to check that out today. I also have a smart phone and I need to be sure I have a good case for it. I really need to talk to someone who reallyrics knows about this stuff. I knew these things we're fragile but I didn'the know they were that fragile.I may just decide to use my phone.

(971 posts)You have to have (or rent) the expertise to do so.
I have the same problem, with a Nexus 7. Was knocked off a shelf and the glass is cracked. I'm ordering the parts to fix it.
I am a professional at electronics repair, so I am able to order the parts and do the repair myself. It will be fairly easy (for me), but my definitions of 'easy' and 'hard' are a bit skewed by 40+ years of experience.
You may be ahead of the game to buy a refurbished new unit, but you might get lucky and find someone that will do it for parts, on the side. I'd volunteer, but your handle suggests that the distance may be too great.
Best of luck, in any case. Peace and good fortune.
