Thoughts on email providers

The satellite service we use gives us 10 email addresses that are Gmail based. It's just one of those things but I won't use Gmail. Before we got Exede we were using a local dialup service. We are still paying for it so that we can continue to use our email addresses. It appears that company is in trouble. Currently it is not possible to access the mail server, this is not the first time. Customers are complaining but they are very slow in replying.

What I would like is a service that does not sell your info to other vendors, and has both POP and web based access. Since we have been paying about $100 per year for our current service I have no problem paying for it.

I have looked into mail.com and mymail. I don't know what to make of them. Any help would be appreciated.

My wife and I are both using MACs OS10.6. She accesses her mail with MAC provided MAIL. I use SEAMONKEY's (Mozilla based) email client. Both of us are in the habit of accessing our mail on the web and deleting stuff we don't want before going to the POP server.

I really hate this because I have had the same email address forever, about 24 years. So I will have to make a lot of changes with lots of sites and friends and family.
