windows 10
Has anyone installed 10 yet? I signed up for it but am reluctant to take the final step. I have some programs which I cant afford to lose because they cant be replaced and am concerned about that.
Any comments pls>

(2,475 posts)I'm not that clever when it comes to computers but i believe that if you need to keep up since technology changes so rapidly. Perhaps I'm wrong - it's been known to happen. Any thoughts?

(49,533 posts)So far, it's basically just what Windows 8 should have been. The Start Menu is back, morphed together with a mini "metro" display area so you don't ever have to leave the desktop if you don't want to.
Windows 8 was a touchscreen-focused GUI that they tried to push onto PC users. Windows 10 appears to be more of a "what do you want me to be" OS. I'll be upgrading.

(48,181 posts)You should not install it on a system that you need to use on a regular basis.
That said, win10 is pretty nice.
It will be a free upgrade for anyone with a licensed version of win7, win8 or win8.1. Wait for the released version.

(16,926 posts)I know they were pushing 365, so I'm guessing it's questionable whether my 2007 will still run.

(37,457 posts)That being said, I'm in the beta program and I'm liking it. It's what Windows 8 should have been. It's great that M$ is opening it up to the general public and inviting feedback. It only makes sense.

(26,319 posts)for personal use and just charge businesses and they are probably only doing that now because they are afraid of google.
The funny thing is though they are still charging online for windows 8 and that announcement I suspect will kill alot of 8 sales because why buy it now when you can get 10 for free?

(26,319 posts)the desktop markets drying up I suspect its more of a desperate act before Google renders MS totally irrelevant like Walmart did to Kmart.
