Windows update takes forever.

all I wanted to do was shut down a machine to upgrade graphics card. windows is installing 130 updates-do not turn off power.
an hour and a half later I'm still waiting.
Linux can install 500 updates way faster than Windoze can do 100.

...they gave me a computer that needed to update. 81 updates took 2 hours and 10 minutes.
As one of my fellow contractors says, it all pays the same.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
"NoAUShutdownOption"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
"NoAUShutdownOption"=-

; END

Save that to "NoAutoUpdateShutdown.reg"

Somewhere along the line it reset to the default.
Not the first time that Windoze resets to the default during an update without asking or telling you.
