Question about Outlook mail

I swear I have been using it for months, and I still don't like it. May have to change to something else..

PLEASE tell me how to search within a particular folder. I could always do this with OE. I went to that folder, chose edit > find, and could find what I needed.

I have gone through all the settings I can find. I am going to have to read a tutorial or something. If you can help me here I would appreciate it.

On Edit...solved.

1. Depends on what version of Outlook you have.

However, for the most part, the left-hand column that contains your folder list allows you to "select" a folder, and display the results in the column immediately to the right of the folder list.

At the top of that column, there is a search window, and you can type your search term into it to search the active folder. The results will display below.

If you're not seeing these columns in your interface, you can poke around using the "view" settings to reveal them.

helpfully,
Bright

I guess I was looking at it and not seeing it.

Thanks for the response. I am trying to like Outlook.

That I probably only learned enough to use about 20% of its features.

I always figured, I'd play with it on a "slow" work day or on some interminably long conference call.

I do like it, though.

6. I'm not particularly fond of it myself.

But it's so ubiquitous in business environments that it's useful to know.

And I'm afraid it is still many miles ahead of most of the free integrated email clients when it comes to contact management.

philosophically,
Bright

Mine is the version that came with Microsoft Office 10-- I think it is Outlook vs. 14

I guess I have not tinkered with it enough to like it. Trying, though. I learn stuff as I need it, but that is the hard way.

7. In 2013 it is to the upper right, and very tiny.

I should say the search icon is upper right, but the folder columns are on the left as usual.

It was more user friendly. Sometimes, for me, new is not better.

And at home.

It wouldn't be too frustrating if they stopped moving things around each version.

Searching is basically by folder/sub-folder and not the whole mail box
