Error 0x800488EB
I have Windows Live Mail, and this morning I can't use my email. I get Error 0x800488EB. I Googled for fix info and was told to run System Restore. I did. (I had to disable my virus protection for SR to successfully run.) My email still wouldn't work.
I didn't think it would help to run Disk Cleanup and Defrag, but I ran those too. Same result. No email.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I read the info at the link a while ago, but I want to avoid changing providers and all that, so I didn't do that. Maybe I don't understand what I read. I'll read it again.

(18,479 posts)Anti-virus, windows, MS-Office (if you're using outlook for email)...
Some of these can change settings in your in either the windows firewall or a custom firewall like Norton.
Best of luck.

(12,153 posts)running System Restore would change everything back to where it was before the updates.
I'll do some checking. Thanks!

(6 posts)Nothing to do with anti-virus checks or restoring, you will still end up with this error.
Issue is that it is connecting over HTTPS to retrieve e-mails which is having issues itself.
Therefore, you will need to reconfigure the account manually by setting it up as either IMAP. After you reconfigure it, Sent Messages will need to be dragged to the new Sent Items folder.

My WLM started working last night. Yay! Now I am OK until the next Error attack.
