Related: About this forumDoes anyone actually like voting in person best?
I love it, the entire experience. It is a "grown up" thing, it is official, it is secret, it means your opinion is valid. I get mail in ballots but I always take them in in person. I am proud of the entire process. Seeing MY name on a list, sliding my envelope into the official box, knowing that the poll workers are happy to see me, the quiet room where serious people are trying to fill the forms out and not mess up, and getting a sticker that says I VOTED for my dog, one for myself and a sheet of them in 4 different languages (for my first graders who voted all year long when I was a teacher), walking home from the polls feeling civic pride. I even save the booklets to see the results. I can see all of my dog's stickers on all of her stuffed animals from years of voting too.
HAPPY VOTING EVERYONE!

(29,205 posts)I like that I know my vote is most likely going to be counted.
I don't like that sometimes there are long lines to vote.

(21,155 posts)My son did his absentee ballot and Im taking it the polling. Voting is something I have encouraged him to do since he was 18 years old. Now its just automatic to him.

(14,624 posts)It's a pain in the ass to vote early in my district. Only one location, not even clsoe to where I work/live.
When I vote in person, my polling location is three blocks from my house. Can't beat that!

(145,291 posts)Voting by mail is restricted in Texas and I will not be old enough for a couple of years.
I like voting in person.
BTW, if you have time volunteer to be an election worker. Election workers are the best way to protect the vote

(51,608 posts)It is hard to NOT discuss politics though! I want to talk about it and they don't let you. I have to take my "Lock Him Up" earrings off before I go inside the polls today (I wear them every time I go out...I made them with a picture of the Moron behind bars).

(145,291 posts)I have worked as an election judge a number of times. It is a good way to see how the process worked. My youngest is an election judge and she is good at it. She is not old and does not have blue hair

(36,470 posts)to work a precinct as a judge. One boss even saw that I got paid "like jury duty," she said.
Our county went to mail ballots & now working the precinct is like working at a dying mall. Hardly anyone comes in to vote. But our precinct is at an assisted living place & the people there love itit generates excitement. And they have an excellent cafeteria & they feed us two wonderful meals a day, gratis, cuz they like having us there.
