Petitions ask, should north of England join Scotland or become separate country?

Story here

The near-miss of the Scottish independence vote has inspired similar petitions in England. Two online polls invite people from northern England to decide whether they'd like to become part of Scotland, or form a different country.

... applying to re-join Scotland if it gains Independence.

Seriously, though, the cultures of the North and South of England are as different as those of Scotland and Wales and I can't see a federal system which treats England as one entity ever improving things much.
