(3,425 posts)As part of a coalition government, he has not used his power wisely (IMHO).

(71,265 posts)If they go to 25 seats as some predict I don't see how he can stay.

(41,212 posts)As said by Maggie Thatcher, 1989. We know what happened the following year!
And Clegg is no Maggie; nor do the LibDems have a record for undying loyalty to their leaders!
Nor is it even guaranteed that Clegg will keep his own seat in 2015.

(14,749 posts)...it's a seat with a huge Lib Dem majority, and it's an affluent seat where a lot of people who would otherwise vote Tory support the Lib Dems as the only real opposition to Sheffield Labour Party.
As to the article, Clegg has been an atrocious party leader and if they do badly next time round he may not get the chance to lead the party beyond the next election.
But Danny Alexander as next Lib Dem leader? No thanks.

(41,212 posts)I agree about Danny Alexander; complete and utter traitor; worse than Clegg.

(14,749 posts)....is that the Labour candidate for Sheffield Hallam is somebody I went to Scouts with!
So the Labour candidate going up against Clegg couldn't possibly be any more local, although I do remember him as being very full of himself indeed.

(1 post).... Danny Alexander will move over to the Tories. He is hardly a Liberal.

(50,254 posts)If the party is cut(as it very well could be)to 15 seats or less in the next election, what possible case does Clegg imagine himself making for being kept on in the job, after making such a catastrophic bollocks of it?
It's not like he could get away with barring the sharply-reduced post-2015 remnants of the LibDem caucus from dumping him.
Is this just arrogance...or is it a sign of a truly delusional personality?
I assume this makes it clear to any UK Du'ers that the only possible progressive choices for 2015 are Labour, the Greens, the Celtic nationalist parties or(if one is strong enough in your constituency)an independent Left candidate of some sort.
