or someone being cyncical. The "money is no object" remark was made after Datchet and parts of Windsor adjacent to the river flooded and Eton is more or less between the two - you walk over the old Windsor Bridge to get to Eton.

UK floods: No penny pinching over help says Cameron. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-26150888

I'm lucky where I live - VERY lucky compared with some people I know - but may have to cancel a couple of trips.

I don't think Eton itself is the issue; but I do think Cameron is a bit more worried when it comes close to where he and his voters live.

A general sense that the government would not be anything like as concerned if it weren't wealthy Berkshire tory voters being affected.

Of course our media don't help, with their tendency to break out in hysterics whenever the home counties get the slightest hint of bad weather.

I posted an article that claimed worst floods since 1776, but apparently that was incorrect. Still so awful !

The university’s Radcliffe Meteorological Station recorded the total monthly rainfall for January as 146.9mm, overtaking the previous record of 138.7mm in January 1852.

Last month’s total is almost three times higher than the amount normally expected, based on the average rainfall records for January over the last 247 years.

Consistent weather records at the university station date from 1815 and there are irregular observations of rainfall, cloud and temperature from 1767.

....The wind has been far more of an issue this winter then anything else round where I live.

Of course there are plenty of people in many other places who've had things a lot worse. It's often worth bearing that in mind before complaining about your own circumstances.
