Jeremy Clarkson 'Considering Bid To Be MP'

Haven't people in Doncaster suffered enough already? Oh, and since when was Clarkson in any way "independent" of the Conservative party leadership?

Jeremy Clarkson has said he is thinking of running for Parliament - standing in Labour leader Ed Miliband's constituency.

The Top Gear presenter suggested he could run as an independent at the next general election.

He tweeted: "I'm thinking I might stand in the next election as an independent for Doncaster North, which is where I'm from. Thoughts?"

In the last election, Mr Miliband had a 10,909 majority in the constituency.

He should go for it - it'd mean he'd have to resign from Top Gear, wouldn't it? muriel_volestrangler Sep 2013 #1

I don't think the BBC would allow active presenters (employed by the BBC - he's not just an occasional commentator, like ones in 'This Week') to stand for Parliament, would they?

But on the other hand, he would probably split the Tory vote!

And he would lose badly even if he stood as a Tory in that constituency. So if he wants to humiliate himself, why stop him?
