‘PC gawn mad’: Sainsbury’s markets to Muslims shocker

Naturally, English Defence League supporters were outraged at this latest instance of British civilisation going down the train. It’s not like they hate all Muslims or anything…

I'm particularly impressed by Nicola Wright's shout of "ENGLISH SPOKE", in the middle of a post misspelling "you're", "their", "its", "laws" and "repaid". "ENGLISH NOT WRITTEN", it seems.

And unsurprisingly (except to Ryan Burke), there are McDonalds store in Saudi Arabia. And the reason you don't find them in Syria or Iran has more to do with the US export ban than some religious problem. Muslim countries are quite keen on beef-based products - that's what they make their frankfurters from, for instance.

they can change channels; press the 'mute' button'; or turn the TV off altogether. TVs come equipped with remote controls these days, so it's not as if people even had to make any physical effort.

Fortunately, except when it's posted on DU, I can similarly avoid the Sun by not buying or clicking on it. But I do love the Sun's priorities. Nothing on the front page about Egypt, the economy, or the spying scandal - just this manufactured outrage about Channel 4, and the 'new look for Tulisa'.

Channel 4 to air daily Muslim call to prayer during Ramadan.

Channel 4 is to air the Muslim call to prayer live every morning during the month of Ramadan.

The broadcaster said it was an act of "deliberate provocation" aimed at viewers who might associate Islam with extremism.

The headline-grabbing move will see Channel 4 broadcast the three-minute call to prayer at about 3am for 30 days from the start of Ramadan on 9 July.

In addition, on the first day of Ramadan Channel 4 will interrupt programming four times during the day – to mark subsequent calls to prayer – with a 20-second film to remind viewers of the approaching prayer time.

After that date, the channel will air the 3am call to prayer on live TV, with the other four prayer times will be broadcast on its website.
