201 dogs rescued from acreage near Milk River, Alta. (CBC)

The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) says 201 dogs seized from a southern Alberta acreage were in horrendous condition.

AARCS called the seizure one of the worst cases of neglect they have ever seen. The rescue near Milk River is the largest removal of dogs in the province's history, according to the Alberta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

"They were emaciated, starving, body condition scores one out of five for the most part," said AARCS Executive Director Deanna Thompson. "Due to their breeds, they had major matting of the fur. We have a dog with a broken leg, a broken jaw."

The Alberta SPCA says the animals were kept outside, some chained up, without shelter. They didn't see signs indicating the dogs were being bred to be sold.

2. I normally feel sorry for hoarders, but when it comes to animals, all bets are off.

This women must have seen the horrible injuries and effects of starvation and exposure, especially for so many of them.

I'm glad they were finally rescued, such a shame that two died. I wonder how many had already died before them though.

3. This is HORRIBLE News to say the least!

But, have you heard about the Woman from B.C. Canada?

She just got sentenced yesterday for killing 6 dogs, and she is supposed to be a Dog Lover.

4. Animal hoarding is an illness I will never understand

How can you be so messed up in the head that you cannot SEE the suffering right in front of you? How can you be so willfully blind?

I have to believe that these kind of people are a special kind of narcissist that believe the animals only exist for their own pleasure. These people should be followed and never be allowed to own animals of any kind ever again. So depressing to see this person was charged for this previously and no one kept tabs on her. WTHeck.
