And the numbers keep rising. (according to ctv News at 11:00 PM). But 31,000 would not have changed the outcome of the election as you can see below.

(3,491 posts)Dough Boy is going down big time if they can actually get some real time evidence that the Conservatives were involved in this.

Analysis leaves much to be desired!
The Conservatives obtained 39% of the votes but they have more than 50% of the seats in Parliament! If they had 39% of the seats in Parliament then we would have a minority government! A minority government!
Take the seats that the Conservatives won by small amounts and work from there. How many votes would it take to take away thirteen, 13 seats? That's all that is needed to put them in a minority government position.
The courts could call for a re-election in certain ridings. Although the Conservatives would certainly try and frustrate it until 2015.

(118,662 posts)or the NDP, that would mean a smaller subsidy for the parties in Ottawa. I had not thought of that angle.
If you sort the ridings by the number of winning votes by each party then the Conservatives won twenty six ridings with a total cumulative win of approximately 31,000 votes. For the NDP it comes to seventeen ridings and the Liberals it is eighteen. Thus if only one party were to divert 31,000 votes and be most efficient at the task they could have shifted that many ridings.
On the other hand just 6,000 votes have given the Conservatives a majority government. Think about that! Just 6,000 votes.
