Hupacasath First Nation hold Canada's last chance to stop FIPA

ACTION ALERT: Put a stop to the Canada-China FIPA!
Thank you to everyone who wrote or phoned their MP urging them to stop the undemocratic Canada-China investment pact (FIPA). Unfortunately the Conservatives and Liberals in the House of Commons voted against the NDP motion that would have required Canada to inform China it was not ratifying the deal. Green Party Leader Elizabeth May also supported the motion.

We need to keep pressuring our MPs to stop the FIPA. But more urgently we need to turn our attention to the courts.

The Hupacasath First Nation has filed a legal injunction to protect their rights and those of all Canadians, and is our best chance to stop the FIPA – but they need our help right now. Support this legal action now at https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/5RWS1

Donate to the First Nations legal challenge that could stop FIPA in its tracks.
Right now, the Hupacasath First Nation are taking Prime Minister Harper to court. They're using their constitutionally protected legal rights to stop him from ratifying FIPA, the secretive and extreme Canada-China investors’ deal.

Update: Thursday April 25th, 2013 — Wow, we've made it to our goal of $150,000! The legal case is now funded through to the end of the upcoming trial. But the fight doesn't end there – any new donations will go to help pay extensive costs and begin a contingency fund in case the government appeals, so your help is still greatly needed. Thank you for your support.

1. The canadian parliament sounds a lot like our congress.
