Venezuela slams Harper for ‘blunt, insensitive, impertinent’ remarks on Hugo Chavez’s death

http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/03/07/venezuela-slams-harper-for-blunt-insensitive-impertinent-remarks-on-hugo-chavezs-death/

"OTTAWA — Venezuela has sent a formal protest to the Canadian government for Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s “insensitive” remarks on the death of President Hugo Chavez.

Harper issued a statement that offered “condolences to the people of Venezuela,” but not the family of the flamboyant 58-year-old leftist leader, who died Tuesday after a long battle with cancer.

A statement from a senior Venezuelan government official says a “card of protest” was sent to Ottawa after Harper expressed what he called insensitivity at a time when their country is grieving."

What an asshole. We need to vote this joker and his shit party out of government.

President Obama did not send condolences to the people of Venezuela or the family of President Chavez.

His statement was a political statement.

It was extremely insensitive and offensive.

To know that could actually happen (again) truly sickens me.

I am grateful President Chavez knew and was prepared for the first coup attempt.

There is a great short documentary on YouTube of Greg Palast interviewing President Chavez in Venezuela.

I try to watch every video and documentary I can find.

I really admired President Chavez.

and both were pretty cold.

Obama:

"At this challenging time of President Hugo Chavez's passing, the United States reaffirms its support for the Venezuelan people and its interest in developing a constructive relationship with the Venezuelan government."
"As Venezuela begins a new chapter in its history, the United States remains committed to policies that promote democratic principles, the rule of law, and respect for human rights."

Harper:
The prime minister offered his “condolences to the people of Venezuela,” and that he looked forward “to working with (Chavez’s) successor and other leaders in the region to build a hemisphere that is more prosperous, secure and democratic.”
“At this key juncture, I hope the people of Venezuela can now build for themselves a better, brighter future based on the principles of freedom, democracy, the rule of law and respect for human rights,”

Harper, a tin pot dictator in his own right, added some snark implying that Venezuelans are better off now.

Don't worry about credit . .

just copy it save it into whatever photo thing you use (my favorite is IrfanView) - and then upload it to photobucket or whatever you use to host images.

just read your last line - I have no idea who to credit it too - certainly not me!

Just a pic I snagged off the web almost a decade ago . .

Aw heck - credit George Bush!!

That's who's backside Harper was kissing back then . . .
