Harper labels Mulcair an extremist after NDP threat to ‘revoke’ China trade treaty

“The Conservatives will not tie the hands of the NDP. We will revoke this agreement if it is not in the best interests of Canadians.”
“New Democrats support trade, we just do not support selling out Canada.”

Mulcair said the NDP “has tried every technique” at its disposal to get more transparency and more debate on the treaty, without success. While the Harper government has every right to ratify the deal, he said an NDP government would be equally entitled to review it and, if necessary, withdraw from it.

Critics say the deal would give state-owned Chinese corporations new powers to influence Canadian policy on everything from investment and industrial development to environment, health and natural resources. They also say it could negatively impact on the jurisdictions of provinces, which weren’t consulted.

NDP looks to tap a powerful vault of votes
The New Democrats under Tom Mulcair have now formally committed to rolling back the Old Age Security changes the Conservatives have set to take effect in 2023.

The opposition leader told a forum at CARP, the non-partisan organization which aims to promote the interests of Canadians as they age, that he, in his first year in government, would restore the age of eligibility for Old Age Security benefits to 65.

(Carp) "members see this as part of the social safety net in this country, something they values as Canadians, they care about that net for their children and grandchildren, yes, but they care about that for everyone’s children and grandchildren.’’

Especially around here. A moderate social democrat sounds like the 'second coming'
to me.

Anyway, we don't want to freak out all those Liberals coming our way.
