Terrible thing the two announcers,BUT who is to blame??????

I am surprised that a thread hasnt been opened,so here goes.
I am afraid that I dont believe that the two kids from 2DAYFM are at fault.Being in the industry myself,that sort of things goes thru many pairs of hands before being allowed to go to air,so my questions are
Why did management of 2DAYFM let it go to air.
Why didnt the hospital acknowledge that 2DAYFM had inquired on 5 different occasions to get permission.
Why did it go ahead.
Why didnt the woman who answered the call just hang up on them and forget all about it/why did she put the two thru to another ward.
Why did the woman take her own life.
Why isnt the hospital showing abit more care towards the womans family and why it this left up to the radio station to do something,
Why is it that the British media are making such a BIG thing out of something that happens on radio every day and why is the British media trying to make it look like that these two kids are to blame.
What is/was going thru the mind of the woman and why did she take her own life.

Now before anyone gets onto their high horses and has a go at me,I would like to remind you,that being in the industry and having a committee to get permission to do things,that SouthernCross Media Austereo should know better and it up to THEIR management to sort this out.
We at our radio station arent allowed to operate a talk back system as we have 'skype' and we cant allocate both so we stick with Skype.
It is time that both parties laid their cards on the table,the Daily Mirror in UK along with other members of the media the hospital where the woman worked,and there is more to this than we know,and also the management of 2DAYFM.

Lets get some sort of closure on this god forsaken rubbish

Suicides think about it for weeks, months, even years before they ever do anything about it. The inquest may bring to light other things going on in her life that brought her to that stage, but she was probably already fragile and finally reached her tipping point.

That doesn't absolve the station at all - even before the apparent suicide (it isn't proven yet), I thought the "prank" was childish and stupid. It's hard to believe that people get paid to come up with stunts like that. And no, I don't believe for a minute that they tried to clear the broadcast with the hospital, given that it took them nearly a week to "remember" that they'd tried to call.

The Brits are all too quick to pin all the blame on the Aussies involved, but there are questions that need to be explored at their end too:

Why wasn't there a protocol in place to deal with such calls, given that royals have been staying at that hospital over the past seventy years? Surely there are many times when journos try to get information, and such calls should be put through to a senior staffer immediately. Nurses shouldn't have to make decisions on what calls are genuine and what are not.

What level of support did the nurses receive from the hospital management? It's an even bet that their first thought would be not to lose royal patronage. I've lived in England, and they kowtow to royals in a way that very few do here, and the higher up the social scale they are, the more they grovel. They say they supported the nurses, yet the husband of Jacintha Saldanha has said they never received so much as a phone call after her death. I'll bet she didn't get much from them while she was alive, either.

What role did the British media play in tipping Jacintha Saldanha over the edge? They never let up, beating up the story for all it was worth - until she died. Then it was all the fault of those upstart Aussies. Sure, the station is culpable, and we all know their track record to date re Kyle Sandilands, but the British media played their part, to the hilt.

One thing seems to be clear from this, following on all we've learned through the Leveson enquiry - the media can't be trusted to regulate themselves; not here, not anywhere.

Whilst I agree to an extent on Matilda,the talkback should have been controlled by their Management.Who was the one who gave the announcers permission to go ahead and why hasnt this person come forward and saved the two kids this embarrassment.
I also feel that the woman had some drama (demons) somewhere and it also appears that there has been no support from the hospital.
I guess that it will all come out in the wash

The two announcers wouldn't have made the decision to make the prank call; that would have come from their producer. And given the sorry record of the station, particularly in relation to the various incidents involving Kyle Sandilands prior to this, there can be little doubt that they have created a particularly ugly culture where the lowest possible denominator rules. This was probably the least offensive incident, until the death of the nurse.

The announcers will be sacrificed if it's going to save the station's bacon, but even though they're a pretty vacuous pair, the responsibility lies with the station - their choices, their culture, their methods.

But I also think responsibility lies with the hospital – it's ridiculous that anyone can phone up and get a patient's records – any patient, not just a royal. I'm still amazed that this doesn't appear to have been drummed into the staff as a matter of course. They're trying to shuck the blame onto the Aussies, but it's a smoke screen to cover their own guilt.
