Man skips court, says law doesn’t apply to him

JACKSON -- A local man who was arrested in July for driving with a fake license plate didn’t appear for his status hearing Thursday in Teton County.

“That hearing actually has nothing to do with me personally,” Bradly Watsabaugh told the Jackson Hole Daily. “And if they proceed with it, they are committing a crime against my estate and myself, as I am standing on my fundamental rights protected by international covenant and the Constitution.”

Watsabaugh said he has the status of a private American national and the courts don’t have power over him.

Body camera video from his arrest shows Watsabaugh refusing citations from the arresting deputy July 25. Watsabaugh wasn’t licensed and his vehicle wasn’t registered or insured, according to reports.

Hauled into court for racking up a string of minor crimes:

Here's what they look like:

He attended an anarchists' gathering in Mexico called Anarchapulco:

He went full-bore Sovereign Citizen around the time the bank foreclosed on a construction loan he secured with his primary residence. I'm not tracking this thoroughly, but it appears he built the house that was foreclosed on over 30 years ago, so he should have it paid off. This construction loan was taken out from the First Bank of Idaho. That bank failed in 2009 (costing you and I $191 million) and its assets were taken over by another financial entity. This asshole apparently decided that meant his mortgage had been dissolved (wrong, motherfucker) and used a fairly common-among-sovereigns foreclosure defense: his Living Man issued a quitclaim deed to his strawman. Strangely enough, his strawman paid his living man twenty-one silver dollars - both the number 21 and he fact they were silver dollars are significant to sovereign citizens - in the presence of a Notary Public, who endorsed his quitclaim deed. For those of you lucky enough to not have immersed yourself in this bullshit, a Strawman is a sovereign citizen's imaginary friend who gets saddled with all the living man's bills, fines, traffic tickets and so on, while the living man gets all the possessions the strawman is stuck paying for. You can tell the strawman by the fact he spells his name in all capital letters. Once he did that, he informed the court that the living man had been endowed (by Charles Atlas or something, I guess) with the duty and responsibility to revoke the jurisdiction of any entity who went against him, including the police and the court system.

Now for the sad part: Until he went full SC nutball, he was one of Jackson Hole's better citizens.
