Chris Taylor is officially identified as: state Rep. Chris Taylor, D-Madison.
But she could just as easily be identified as: state Rep. Chris Taylor, D-Constitution.
The Legislature has always had stalwart defenders of civil rights and civil liberties: Fred Risser, Frank Nikolay, Ed Nager, Lloyd Barbee, Midge Miller, Lynn Adelman. But few have embraced the role with the diligence and determination displayed by Taylor.
When she was elected to the Assembly in a 2011 special election (to replace Joe Parisi, who had been elected Dane County executive in the midst of the Wisconsin Uprising), there was no question that Taylor would be an ardent advocate on behalf of reproductive rights. A savvy lawyer who made her name as public policy director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Taylor had experience and passion in this area....
