MADISON, Wis. —A state representative from Greendale announced Thursday that he will resign his seat this month.

Jeff Stone, a Republican representing the 82nd Assembly District, said in a news release he will resign from his seat on Oct. 14.

The state's Public Service Commission has named him a division administrator for water compliance and consumer affairs.

"After 15 years as a state legislator, I am resigning from the Wisconsin State Assembly," he said. "I look forward to continuing to serve all of the residents of the state of Wisconsin in my future endeavors."

The district covers portions of south-central Milwaukee County including Greendale and Franklin. He was elected to the seat in a special election in 1998.
